Board of Education Stands Strong in Wake of Superintendent Resignation "Now is the not the time to fold but to be bold." OAKLAND, CA James Harris, President of the Board of Education, and members of the Oakland School District Leadership Team, spoke to the community Tuesday morning at La Escuelita Elementary School about the resignation of Supt. Antwan Wilson. President Harris said the Board of Education is expected to hold a Special Meeting on Monday, Nov. 28, where the search for a permanent replacement and naming an Interim Superintendent will be discussed. “We have to stand here strong for our children and I can also say we will continue under the leadership of the Board of Education and strong staff leadership with the effort and vision to build quality community schools in our district. That was the vision set forth by the Board of Education in 2009. It is working and we will continue. So, let that message ring clear and true to the citizens of Oakland: Now is the not the time to fold but to be bold,” said James Harris, Board President. “We have an opportunity here in Oakland to set a standard for what it means to educate children in a diverse fashion and in a way that allows them to see the best of themselves in classrooms and at school sites.” Directors Nina Senn and Amy Eng were also present.
