Hunt is on for new Planet Nine

close behind with 27.9. Saaleephiw finished eighth in vault out of 18 contestants. Overall, Gjoraas finished 11th all-around and Saaleephiw 12th. Coach Ellen Engebretson was pleased. “Our varsity is now in contention to qualify for state,” she said. In JV, WHS finished third with 107.35 points, beating Lincoln. The varsity competes in an east/ west meet today at Lincoln.

By Franco Ordonez McClatchy Washington Bureau (TNS) For a planet that hasn’t technically been discovered yet, Planet Nine is generating a lot of buzz. Astronomers have not yet found a new planet orbiting the sun. Yet some remote icy bodies are dropping clues that a giant orb may be lurking on the fringes of the solar system.

Tune into big game for football fun Sunday

Six hunks of ice in the debris field beyond Neptune travel on orbits that are aligned with one another. Planetary scientists Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown at Caltech in Pasadena, Calif., described the curious orbits last month. Gravitational tugs from the known planets should have twisted their orbits around by now. But analyses using what are known as computer models now suggest their continuing shared alignment could be explained by the effects of a distant planet. It would have to be roughly 10 times as massive as Earth and come no closer to the sun than about 30 billion kilometers — 200 times the distance between the sun and Earth. The Caltech pair described those findings in the February Astronomical Journal. Evidence for such a planet is scant. What’s more, finding such a stealth world will be tough. Yet finding hordes of other icy nuggets with overlapping orbits could make a stronger case for the planet — and even help point to where in the sky it is. Until then, researchers are intrigued but cautious about the likelihood of a new planet. “It’s exciting and very compelling work,” says Meg Schwamb. She’s a planetary scientist at Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan. But so far, only six orbiting bodies point toward a new mystery planet. “Whether that’s enough is still a question,” she says.

This year’s NFL season is almost over as Super Bowl 50 takes place Sunday near San Francisco. Super Bowl Sunday is a great time to get with friends to watch an exciting game, and since the Chicago Bears aren’t playing, I’ll be looking Hear me. . . forward to halftime to watch the always beautiful Beyonce perform with Caden Goetschius Coldplay and Bruno Mars. To everyone’s surprise, The Carolina Panthers are the frontrunners to win the Super Bowl, having made a huge comeback this season by losing only one game after going 7-8-1 in the 2014-15 season. It is the biggest game of the year for superstar quarterback Cam Newton as he will be

By Tyler Olmstead Warrior gymnasts took on in-city schools in the Metro Conference Meet Saturday at WHS. The varsity finished fourth with a total of 120.9 team points, behind Roosevelt with 127.1 and O’Gorman and Lincoln tied for first with 135.25. Eighth grader Kia Gjoraas finished on top for the Warriors, scoring 28.3 points all-around, with sophomore Lily Saaleephiw

looking for his first championship along with the Panthers organization’s first championship. “SuperCam” is going to be holding nothing back, and not worrying about an injury ending his season, as this is the last game of the year and the most important. Everyone remembers the 2014 playoffs when the Seahawks throttled the Broncos in the Super Bowl 43-8. If you’re a Denver Broncos fan, you should get out the Kleenex box and your blankie because the Panthers are going to deliver their wrath on the Broncos this year. Peyton Manning, the legendary 39-year-old quarterback, is still delivering as his outstanding football career nears its end. After Manning’s horrible performance two years ago, you can be sure that he’ll be looking for a Super Bowl win to cap-off his career. So join your friends, pop the sparkling grape juice, and get ready for the most exciting game of the year Sunday! Senior Caden Goetschius knows it will be the Bears year next season.
