Master Plan 2010-2025 Power Point presentation – BGK Architects

Presenter:

Jay Barnes

PROF.001.1007

Discussion: Overview of future expansion for Pinnacle Campus Decision/Actions: Question: Beki Halpin – We’re meeting two more times? Answer: Jay Barnes – Yes, June and November. Question: Nan Clayton – Please define utilization. Answer: Lauren Goldberg/Bill Mullane – The number of hours each classroom is used per week. Question: Amy Jones – Why is there such a difference between Northridge and Pinnacle? Answer: Judy Van Cleve – Northridge has more scheduled classes. Question: Lauren Goldberg – What is the “anchor” program at Pinnacle? Answer: Judy Van Cleve – Use of the studio used to be stronger in the past. It either needs to be revived or we need to establish something new. Distance Learning is also very strong at Pinnacle, but it is more of a process rather than an academic program. Question: Beki Halpin – Is it ACC policy to have an anchor program? Answer: Lauren Goldberg – No, not required. Suggestion: Beki Halpin – Split anchor program between north and south sides of Austin. Comment: Sandy Baldridge – This will add to vehicle congestion. Comment: Bill Mullane – Certain programs require specific equipment that cost too much money. Question: Nan Clayton – Is ACC considering expanding south of Austin? And, programs? Answer: Bill Mullane – Yes, based on community needs. Question: Susan Steeg – Who are you targeting to get information regarding demand? Answer: Bill Mullane – Deans/Committees are gathering information from the communities. Question: Mary Faria – How creative is ACC being about partnering with local businesses? Answer: Bill Mullane – Those partnerships are up to the departments. Question: Janet Brooks – Could secure exhibit areas be added as part of the Master Plan? Answer: Lauren Goldberg – Added to suggestions. Question: Beth Long – Is the Continuing Education decline due to class size? Answer: Judy Van Cleve – Not necessarily. Answer: Mary Hensley – C.E. is a for profit department. So, while we can offer many different kinds of classes, there must be sufficient enrollment to be able to at least break even regarding the costs involved in holding the class. Question: Beki Halpin – How does ACC handle high demand classes? Answer: Mary Hensley – Recruit more faculty; monitor full classes; open more sections. Question to group: Lauren Goldberg – What is the preference regarding a classroom with computers in it? Around the perimeter, or in the middle of the room? Question to group: Lauren Goldberg – The Office of Student Life is requesting a General Use space for 500+ people. Should this be auditorium style space, or flat space? PROF.001.1007
