Seniors take to court for last time in high school

Apple unveils new small iPhone

My fellow Warriors, last weekend marked the end of my high school basketball career—the last time playing alongside my best friends. Years of friendships and memories made, all over. Or so I thought. Four Warriors have been selected to play in the Annual 3-Class Shoot-Out High School All-Star Basketball Games in Salem Saturday. Seniors Sam Siganos and Hear me. . . Carter Keller will play with several other boys from across the state Sydney Arrington and represent Class AA boys basketball, while senior Anna Goodhope and myself will play alongside the Class AA girls. In both boys and girls action, the Class AA All-Star Team will play the Class A team, and the winner of that game will advance to play the Class B team. The teams are coached by college coaches from the area. This game will not only give us a chance to play with the best basketball players in the state, but also give us a chance to play alongside our teammates one last time. I am truly honored to represent WHS one last time as a basketball player, and to play with Anna again. The game should be a lot of fun, and will be open to the public. The first girls game will tip off at 2 p.m. Saturday with the AA girls vs. the A girls. The winner will face the B girls at 3:45 p.m. The AA boys will face the A boys at 5:15 p.m. A dunk contest will follow that game, then the winner of the first boys game will face the B boys at 7 p.m. Saturday. Senior Sydney Arrington is ready to play Saturday.

Technology Watch The new phone, dubbed the iPhone SE, has the same basic shape as the iPhone 5, which the company first introduced in 2012. The new tablet, which gets an “iPad Pro” moniker, comes with a 9.7-inch screen, the same size as the first iPad model that Apple introduced in 2015. Although both devices included updated innards, they allow Apple to offer new products in shapes and styles that are familiar to consumers. “We’re really excited about the iPhone SE,” company CEO Tim Cook said at a press event at the company’s headquarters here. “Many, many customers have asked us for this, and I think they’re going to love it.” Although the event was primarily designed to showcase the new devices, Cook took some time at the beginning of it to address, at least in passing, the company’s dispute with the FBI, which has been dominating most discussion of Apple of late. There are now 1 billion Apple devices in use around the world, and Apple’s customers store some of their most personal data on them, Cook noted. The company feels a “significant responsibility” to protect their data and their privacy, he said.
