It’s time for a superhero showdown!

It is time to talk about a very serious and hot topic that is sweeping the nation—and no, it is not the Presidential Race. Today I am here to discuss the important topic of Marvel vs. DC. Recently I had the pleasure of Hear me. . . viewing “Captain America: Civil War.” Do not worry—I will not Jack Schelhaas spoil any of it here. It just got me thinking about the recent Batman vs. Superman movie, which I also thoroughly enjoyed, despite some negative reviews. With all of that out of the way, the question has to be asked—is Marvel the superior side, or is DC?

There are two categories to consider—movies and heroes. Marvel has had a surge of fantastic movies in the last few years, based both on individual heroes and groups. DC’s only great movies, in my opinion, have been the “Dark Knight” trilogy. Marvel takes this round. Now for the heroes. Marvel has some decent ones, including Wolverine, Spider-Man and Captain America. But in my opinion, DC takes the cake here—Superman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Batman and my personal favorite, the lesser known Azrael, make up the epic roster of DC. The new and improved Aquaman has the potential to become my new favorite, however, as his new look and style look to be some of the coolest I have ever seen. So it appears as if the tally is tied, so this served no purpose other than to entertain you beautiful people! Senior Jack Schelhaas says “Go team DC!”

Third-party option looks bleak By William Douglas McClatchy Washington Bureau (TNS) WASHINGTON — Efforts by disgruntled Republicans to launch a third-party challenge to presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump are likely to fail, the victim of a waning clock and the Herculean effort it takes to get a thirdparty candidate on the ballot. Despite the long odds, Republicans who feel that the unconventional and unpredictable Trump isn’t a true conservative have ramped up discussions on trying to defeat him and Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton in November with an alternative candidate who hews closely to their political beliefs. “Why are we confined to these two terrible options?” Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., wrote Wednesday in a lengthy Facebook post critical of Trump and presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. “Why shouldn’t America draft an honest leader who will focus on 70 percent solutions for the next four years? You know — an adult.” Republican antiTrump forces are hunting for a willing candidate, seeking out potential donors, and mapping out legal strategies to navigate the myriad of often-stringent state rules and regulations to get a third-party candidate on the ballot. Names of potential third-party candidates have been bandied about: Sasse, former Massachusetts governor and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney; former Texas Gov. Rick Perry; former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice; former Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla.; retired U.S. Marine Corps General James Mattis; and Republican Govs. Susana Martinez of New Mexico, Brian Sandoval of Nevada, and Nikki Haley of South Carolina. So far, no one is jumping at the chance.
