Freshman football team earns win over O’Gorman Freshman Football

By Jack Schelhaas Freshman football team members won a nail-biter over O’Gorman 24-17 Saturday at WHS. After battling neck-andneck, O’Gorman went up 17-8 after two explosive plays for touchdowns. With their backs against the wall, the Warriors fought back with a twoyard run from Malik Paulson to make it 17-16, and sealed the win with a huge touchdown pass from Dillon Gard to Jhett Andersen.

Trey Ponto said he was happy with the win, but knows there is room for improvement. “We played well, but we need to work on protecting the ball,” Ponto said. “We had six fumbles on the day.” There was no B-Game Saturday. The Warriors are back in action Tuesday as they make the trip across town to Roosevelt.

First of all, dress up! Every day, you should dig in your closet and find any clothes that match the theme of the day to wear. If you don’t have anything, borrow from a friend or other family member. There is also the option of going out and buying something cheap. If you are afraid that you will look stupid, don’t be. Here at WHS, we laugh at the people who don’t dress up this week. Next, attend the events. The variety show will be a great source of entertainment tonight. Also, get with a group of your friends and make either a boys volleyball or powder puff football team. Even if you decide not to, the teams always need some fans to cheer them on! Lastly, make memories and have a blast. This will be one of the most memorable weeks of your high school career that you will never forget if you make the most of it! Junior Carson Herbert thinks WHS wears red, white and blue better than Lincoln!

Rick Perry suspends campaign By Tom Benning The Dallas Morning News (TNS) AUSTIN, Texas — Former Gov. Rick Perry suspended his struggling presidential campaign Friday, becoming the first of the 17 GOP candidates for the White House to bow out. Speaking before a conservative group in St. Louis, Perry announced that he was giving up his bid a full five months before the first GOP primary contest. He said he had “no regrets,” calling it a privilege and an honor to run for president. “We have a tremendous field of candidates … so I step aside knowing our party is in good hands,” he said. “As long as we listen to the grassroots, listen to that cause of conservatism … then our party will be in good hands.” The timing of the decision surprised some politicos, but the outcome did not. In slightly more than three months as a formal candidate, Perry never gained support among GOP voters and donors. He couldn’t qualify for the main Republican debates, or raise enough money to keep staffers on the payroll in crucial early-voting states. And despite his efforts to study the issues, prepare for a run and recast his image, Perry was completely overlooked after his disastrous 2012 campaign—and the infamous “oops” moment that came to define it. “It was inevitable,” said Dallas businessman Roy Bailey, a Perry donor and chairman of his statewide campaign for governor. “He saw the writing on the wall.” His decision still leaves a crowded GOP race, but several face the same low polling numbers and cash crunch that hurt the Texan, leading some to speculate Friday that the field could be culled quickly.
