Chorus fundraiser offers ‘Circle of Courage’ painting Show Warrior pride on your family’s driveway for homecoming By Caitlyn Wolfgang horus students and parents at WHS are selling “Circle of Courage” driveway paintings as a fundraiser to help promote WHS pride as homecoming week approaches.     For $20, families can have the WHS “Circle of Courage” logo painted on their driveway to show their WHS pride. For $30, supporters will get the painting now and a touch-up in the spring. Choir director Jeff Spencer said the group will make every attempt to have all the “Circle of Courage” logos painted by homecoming, however painting will continue, weather permitting, until all orders are filled.     “It’s a great way to show your Warrior spirit as we get closer to homecoming week,” Spencer said.    Each choir member is required to raise a certain amount of money, depending on the ensemble groups that they are a part of, and the money that they raise goes towards their traveling, costumes and music copyright fees for all of their performances. Forms to request a “Circle of Courage” painting are available in the student services office or chorus room, C-110. The form and payment should be returned or mailed to WHS in care of the chorus. Checks should be made payable to “WHS Chorus Boosters.”

Everyone needs to get involved in homecoming

Apple unveils iPhone X Tuesday

As we all know, Orange Letter Days (OLD) Homecoming week is just around the corner, and I am getting very excited and equally sad for my last homecoming. I want everyone to get involved and participate in the activities that are happening next week. My freshman year I was told to participate no matter what. Now, as a senior, I know how true this is. Start preparing your clothes for each day by going through your closest and trading with your friends. If that doesn’t give you all your themes, my favorite go-to’s are Savers and Goodwill. Homecoming Hear me. . . kicks-off Sunday with the OLD Ice Cream Social. Mo n d a y, Madi Forseth the   dress up days begin with a “Businessperson vs. Slob” theme during the day (participate every day, Warriors) and ending with coronation and the variety show in the evening. My favorite day is Friday, the most action packed, spirit-filled day. You can catch me at my all-time favorite inflatable “The Meltdown,” with the turning boom or at the pizza feed and pep rally. Next on the agenda is the football game at 5 p.m. at Howard Wood Field. I hope to see everyone in the student section supporting our varsity football team! After the game, get your groove on at the OLD Dance back at WHS. There is no need for a date or special dress—simply come straight from the game to dance the night away. In my opinion this is one of the top dances of the year! Homecoming sets the tone for the year, so have a blast and participate in homecoming! Senior Madi Forseth is pumped up for OLD!

By Seung Lee The Mercury News (TNS) CUPERTINO, Calif. — Ten years ago, Steve Jobs stepped onto the stage at the Moscone convention center in San Francisco to unveil the iPhone, not fully knowing its transformational power for Apple, Silicon Valley, the internet and the world. On Tuesday, his successor, Tim Cook, unveiled Apple’s latest model, the iPhone X, in a state-of-the-art Cupertino theater named after the Apple co-founder.

Technology Watch “It is only fitting we are here in this place to reveal a product that will set the path for this technology for the next decade,” said Cook. The iPhone X will have end-to-end screen display with a “Super Retina” OLED display made of glass — and no home button. OLED is high resolution and energy efficient compared to screens in past models. To unlock the phone, users have a variety of options. They can shake the phone, swipe their finger up the screen, or use facial recognition through new “TrueDepth” camera sensors on the front of the phone. “Our vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen,” Apple says. “One so immersive the device itself disappears into the experience. With iPhone X, that vision is now a reality. Say hello to the future.” Pre-orders for the iPhone X will begin Oct. 27, and the phone will be available Nov. 3. The 6 gigabyte-phone will cost $999, confirming suspicions that the iPhone X will soon break the $1,000 barrier.
