CYBERJAYA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (CUCMS) INTRODUCTION CUCMS was established in 2005 as a private university under the Private Higher Education Institution Act, 1996 (ACT 555). The University received its first group of 71 students who joined the Faculty of Medicine and 14 students who joined the Faculty of Pharmacy. In 2006, the first group of Foundation in Science (Medicine/Pharmacy) students joined the three-semester programs as they prepared themselves for either a course in Medicine or Pharmacy. At the beginning of the academic session 2012/2013, the total number of students of CUCMS is almost 1320. Situated in Cyberjaya, the Malaysian intelligent city equipped with world class IT infrastructure and stateof-the-art development projects, CUCMS is easily accessible via major highways of the Klang Valley. It is about 20 minutes drive from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and about 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur.

The SCTL creates an environment of active personal participation and compulsory involvement in group learning that finally enhances positive teamwork and leadership. This worldwide acceptance to the new teaching and learning approach is better appreciated in the affective and cognitive aspects, which are also conducted in the Problem-based Learning (PBL) sessions. When CUCMS signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Malaysian Medical Relief Society of Malaysia (MERCY Malaysia) in 2007, the Young Mercy co-curiculum programme of CUCMS that trains CUCMS students in basic disaster relief management was born. This became another milestone in the history of CUCMS, combining volunteerism and humanitarian activities in its curriculum. The Mentoring System of CUCMS is vital in the training and assessment of students. This is reflected in the mentee-students’ Affective Domain assessment which includes (among others) the marks acquired during Reflection Sessions, Peer, Self and Mentor Assessment and Folio Records. The main role of a mentor-academic is to facilitate and support the mentee in their learning process. Appraisal is done regularly during the weekly Reflection Sessions.
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH (OSH) PROGRAMS FOR GRADUATES/WORKING ADULTS Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS), is offering varieties of Occupational Safety and Health programs such as Diploma, Bachelor and Master program. These programs are ideal for graduates and working adults who want to specialise in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), or for Managers in organization that have a high responsibility for Occupational Safety and Health at workplace.
BACHELOR IN OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH (Honours)(BOSH) (MQA/PA 0543)
ABOUT THE PROGRAM This program is designed for students with a promising career as an occupational safety and health officer (SHO) in Malaysia. It also provides a sound basis for students to become highly qualified safety and health practitioners for all industries as listed in OSHA 1994. Our OSH core subjects are designed to prevent workplace injury, illness and fatality in the workplace. The objectives of this program are to produce graduates who are:
Knowledgeable in occupational safety and health field
Proficient in inspecting place of work
Able to advise the employer on the measures to be taken in the interests of safety and health of the persons employed in the workplace.
Able to implementing and organizing OSH program at workplace.
The academic staffs involved in the design and delivery of the program have significant working experiences with industries on providing timely and cost-effective solutions to daily OSH problems. This industry-based focus is transferred to the programs, and students are guaranteed a program of study that is relevant to their needs.
