Qualifications and Characteristics The superintendent as chief executive officer, is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the superintendent to be the educational leader of Maud ISD. The Superintendent works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop policies and programs designed to carry out the district’s mission. 1. Is an effective communicator with superior interpersonal skills who can make and uphold difficult decisions that are best for students and the district. 2. Is committed to Maud ISD for the long term and demonstrates active involvement and visibility in the district and community. 3. Is a motivational leader who is attentive to staff morale, and has a proven ability in building an effective management team engaged in collaborative planning, problem solving, and decision making. 4. Has administrative experience at the campus and/or central office level. 5. Knows school financial management and state funding laws. 6. Is able to evaluate staff and be accountable for the district’s progress. 7. Is able to work in partnership with the Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, cooperation and transparency. 8. Is a person of ethics, integrity and vision 9. Is an effective delegator who empowers staff members to carry out their responsibilities independently while remaining knowledgeable and accountable for the district’s overall progress in carrying out its mission.
Description of Maud ISD Maud Independent School District is a strong, vibrant school located 18 miles west of Texarkana on State Highway 8, in the southwest part of Bowie County. It nestles in the piney woods of East Texas, just 5 miles from the wonderful fishing area, Lake Wright Patman. Red River Army Depot is on the northern boundary of the school district. Maud has all the advantages of being a small community and is a few minutes from the shopping areas of Texarkana and New Boston.
