Billy Mitchell was America’s first vocal advocate for military airpower; he proved the airplane could sink ships.

This is a planning tool used to track promotion requirements progress. Each form lists all requirements needed for a specific achievement. Cadets will use this form to plan their events and set their promotion and pin dates. Cadets and their Mentor are responsible for keeping this form up-to-date. Cadets should have this form on their person at every meeting and should update it by meeting’s end. Field explanations:

Cadet: Cadet’s first & last name. Please print legibly. CAP ID: Cadet’s Civil Air Patrol identification number. Rank: Cadet’s current rank. If cadet just joined, the rank is C/AB (Cadet Airman Basic). DOR: Cadet’s Date of Rank. – This is the date the current rank was approved. If cadet is an Airman Basic (C/AB), enter the date joined.

5. DTIG: Cadet’s Date Time in Grade. This is the date the cadet is eligible for promotion. This date is 8 weeks after the DOR and can be found in eServices. Cadets cannot be promoted prior to this date. Cadet and Mentor should verify this date is correct to avoid any misunderstandings.

6. Today’s Date: Date form is initially filled out. 7. PC-Date (Planned Completion Date): This is the estimated date all below requirements will be met. Cadet/Mentor must first set all requirement dates in order to set this date. This date will be equal to the oldest of the requirement dates. Please note: This field as well as any other estimated date field should be written in pencil as they may change.

8. PP-Date (Planned Pinning Date): This is the pinning ceremony date. Promotion meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month. This estimated date should be later than the EC Date.

9. Assigned Mentor & Initial: This is the cadet’s mentor. The mentor is to initial here to show he/she knows they’ve been assigned to this cadet.

10. EC-Date (Estimated Completion Date): Enter the date the cadet plans to complete the specific requirement. For online exams, cadets will choose the date. For squadron held events, the date must correlate with squadron’s meetings. For st st example, Drill tests are given the 1 Tuesday of each month and therefore a drill test EC-Date should be on a 1 Tuesday of any month. The Wright Bros and the Mitchell exams which are administered at the Squadron. These exams can be scheduled any meeting night except PT night or a special events night. All squadron administered tests must be scheduled at least 1 week prior to the desired testing date

11. C-Date (Completed Date): This is the actual date the event was completed. Cadets and/or mentors can enter this date however, the date received by National HQ is the official completion date.

12. Initials : The person who entered the C-Date should initial here. Mentors, cadet senior staff, or squadron seniors, may be required to initial specific fields as noted.

13. Approvals: The Effective Date and Pin Date are to be filled out by the cadet senior staff. The Effective date is the actual date of the promotion, aka DOR. The Pin Date is the day of the pinning ceremony. Note: The squadron will provide a “Make up Day” for cadets who missed an event with an excused absence. Make Up day will be held the last Saturday of each month unless otherwise planned. Cadets may take one event test that day unless otherwise st approved by the Commander. Cadets must sign up for make-up day at least 1 week before the actual day. The C/1 Sergeant will be the Point of Contact for Make Up day sign ups.
