Methow Valley School District Board of Directors Minutes of special meeting held November 9, 2016 Members present:

CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Board Chair Frank Kline at 5:30 pm, followed by the pledge of allegiance and the mission statement. CHANGES TO THE AGENDA No changes were made to the agenda or the consent agenda. PUBLIC COMMENTS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS No comments were heard from the public. VISITORS Visitors included Liz Weeks-Molz. I. COMMUNICATIONS Superintendent Venable shared that Liberty Bell Jr-Sr Cross Country team won the WIAA State Championship. Seven girls finished in the top ten and the boys placed second. Superintendent Venable reported that exceptional work is taking place with teachers who are writing IB units of study. Articles in the upcoming issue of MV Pride will highlight internships that are taking place throughout the district. Superintendent Venable shared that “opened mindedness” is the featured attribute for the month of November. Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for this month and schools are conducting Veterans Day observances. Superintendent Venable thanked Assistant Business Manager Liz Weeks-Molz and ESD 171 Executive Director of Finance Dave Arp for their skillful work in regard to meetings with Piper Jaffray and Moody’s. He reported that the District has an A2 bond rating. Superintendent Venable shared that the staff winter gathering is scheduled for December 9 at Sun Mountain Lodge from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. II. FINANCIAL REPORT Assistant Business Manager Liz Weeks-Molz reported that the district is meeting its budget goals. The ASB budget continues to be strong. Capital Projects fund has cash to begin projects this year.

A motion was made by Mary Anne Quigley and seconded by Dana Stromberger to approve the consent agenda as presented; motion passed unanimously. IV. ACTION Resolution 11-01-16 Small Works Roster Resolution 11-01-16 authorizing the district to contract with Municipal Research and Services Center of Washington (MRSC) to host the district’s small works roster. A motion was made by Dana Stromberger and seconded by Mary Anne Quigley to approve Resolution 11-01-16 as presented; motion passed unanimously. Defer approval of November Accounts Payable and Payroll Authorization to Defer approval of November accounts payable and payroll due to the Thanksgiving holiday schedule until the next regular meeting of the Board on December 14, 2016. A motion was made by Dana Stromberger and seconded by Mary Anne Quigley to approve deferring approval of November accounts payable and payroll as presented; motion passed unanimously.

November 9, 2016 V. BOARD BUSINESS Board reviewed the calendar of upcoming events. Because November accounts payable and payroll approval is deferred to December 14, 2016, the Special meeting of the Board scheduled for November 21, 2016 is cancelled. ADJOURNMENT At 5:55 pm, the Board, having no further business, adjourned the meeting.
