Byhalia Elementary School
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Attendance is Crucial Attendance is crucial during the remainder of the school year. MAP testing (grades 3 ~5) began on April 25th and will conclude on May 17th. MKAS2 makeups will be May 16th. Students should be present each day and focused on their school work. Parents, please do all that you can at home to help us ensure that your child is ready for these assessments. Students that have been absent during a test administration will need to take a makeup assessment.
Did You Know? Did you know that, through Active Parent, you have access to your child (ren)’s grades and attendance information? All you have to do is fill out the registration form, which can be provided by the Counselor’s office or a MCSD student handbook.
School Safety
BES PTO
Parents, please be sure to check your child’s backpack and/or pockets each morning before they leave for school. Recently, we have had instances of students bringing inappropriate items to school. Student safety is always a top priority.
Bus Behavior Parents, please discuss with your child the importance of proper bus behavior. We are receiving an abundance of office referrals for bus misconduct. Student safety is always at the forefront of everything that we do. Students need to be reminded that bus misconduct can lead to the distraction of the bus driver, which places everyone in harms way. Please stress to your child that they are to remain seated and as quiet as possible while riding the school bus.
Lost & Found We do have several items, such as keys, cell phones, and eye glasses sitting in the front office. Most of these items were left lying around the school at some point throughout the year. If you or your child has lost any of these items, please come see Mrs. Richmond at the front window. You must come speak to her personally regarding this. Please do not send someone else or your child to speak with her.

The BES administration is seeking parents who are willing to serve as members of the PTO. Our school has not had a PTO for quite some time now, and we feel that the time has come to change this. Should you be interested in serving, please send an email to
[email protected] with your contact information so that we can get the ball rolling on having an active PTO for our school.
Check In & Check Out Students MUST report to school before 7:30 in order to not be considered tardy. Checkouts stop each day at 2:15. NO checkouts will be allowed after that time. You will have to pick your child up at car riders after 2:15. Please ensure you have your driver’s license or picture ID when you come to sign out your child. If you send someone, tell that person to have his or her picture ID or driver’s license as well. We want to ensure students are released to the correct person.
