High School Information 2017-2018 Attention: American Indian 11th and 12th Graders Leo Canez, from the Admissions Office at Humboldt State University and Yurok Tribal member, will be at Taa-’At-Dvn on Thursday, October 5 at 2:00 PM. He will talk about the How and Why’s for College as an American Indian.
FAFSA FAFSA opens up on October 1st. Parents and students can come on October 5 from 5:30-7:30 PM to Del Norte High School to get help filling out and submitting their FAFSA application for financial aid. Students will need a FSA ID. to start their FAFSA applications.*
ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) October 5, 2017, deadline to sign up is Friday, September 29th. See Mark Nelson, Counselor, to sign up. The ASVAB measures students’ aptitudes in ten vocational and academic areas. Results can be used as a career assessment for civilian and military careers. All juniors and seniors are advised to take the ASVAB as a career interest inventory. RESULTS WILL NOT BE RELEASED BY DNHS TO MILITARY RECRUITERS.*
SAT Testing Update
Seniors planning to attend a 4-year college next year (UC, CSU, or other university) should take the SAT. Scores from the SAT Reasoning Tests will be expected on their college applications in November: If your student is planning to attend a 4 year college, please check their transcript for these scores. They should be listed in the bottom center box. Students who still need to take these tests or who want to try and improve their scores have one more opportunity: November 4th at DNHS. Scores from this test date will be available before November 30th. The deadline to register is October 5th for the November 4th SAT Testing.
