OBJECTIVES: OBJECTIVE 1

ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS PROBLEM Flutes will not be able to find fingering quick enough to play 8th notes in measures 51-55.

SOLUTION Isolate their part and play passage slowly several times.

Clarinet 1 will have trouble finding fingering across break in measures 48, 49.

Play A, Bb, C, Bb, A slowly several times. All clarinets play slowly mm. 48-51.

Trumpets will miss pitches at measure 49.

Finger 48-50. Play 48-50 slowly.

F Horn will play wrong pitch at downbeat of 50.

Sing mm. 48-51. Play passage slowly.

Play through measures 45-59 twice, slowly. Listen for problems. Isolate instruments as needed to fix problems in the following order: horn, trumpets, saxophone, clarinets, flutes. Ask other instruments to figure out fingerings while you work with individual parts. Play passage.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS WHEN/WHERE WILL ASSESSMENT TAKE PLACE? Assessment will happen as the players play through the passage together and individually. It will happen in the band room #141.
