1T-TaS2: overview and new perspectives The tantalum dichalcogenide 1T-TaS2 exhibits a wealth of competing phenomena due to its quasi-2D layered crystal structure, ranging from charge density waves (CDWs) to metal-insulator transitions and superconductivity. Although the compound has been studied for more than four decades, recent experiments reveal new intriguing phenomena related to the nanoscale manipulation of metastable low-temperature phases. In this talk, the physical properties of 1T-TaS2 will be overviewed and a brief summary of the performed experiments with the emphasis on the latest results will be given. Except of that, our first measurements of both 1T-TaS2 powder and single crystals together with the future plans will be presented.
