Welcome and Introductions The meeting was called to order at 11:10 a.m.

Discussion with President Johnston L. Choptiany introduced President Johnston and told him that CCRA members are keen to continue their involvement with Centennial College. Members are looking for opportunities to assist in a number of functions. President Johnston agreed that retires could provide valueadded support to a number of areas within the College i.e. New Campus opening, convocation, mentoring, Board committees, PAC's, Advocacy, fundraising events, friendship cultivation, networking, student retention, workforce preparation. The committee discussed these possibilites. Linda will write to President Johnston with a formal response from the Association and ask him to move forward this matter forward with the senior team of the college.

Minutes January 20, 2002 Minutes of January 20, 2002 were accepted.

President's Report L. Choptiany acknowledged a $1000 donation from the Board of Governors as an initial start up for the association. Through the Office of the President, she will approach Human Resources / Staff Development, re the possibility of booking guest speakers from OCRA for information sessions with CCRA / new retirees at Centennial Day in August. Marketing has agreed that a retiree's column can be added to the Centinel on an 'as-need' basis. It must be brief and informative as space is an issue.

Thanks to Dana Gour, the January newsletter was printed and mailed. When members are having difficulty downloading the email copy of the retiree's newsletter, they have a choice of viewing a copy on the website or having a hard copy sent out. 5.

January Newsletter Distribution

5.1

Dana reported that 185 copies of the newsletter were mailed from her office. Another 80 copies were sent electronically. Additional copies were mailed to the following retiree associations: Lambton, St. Clair, Mohawk and Georgian.

5.2 Human Resource Postcards - New Members Human Resources have postcards, designed by CCRA, for distribution to new retirees. These postcards ask for name and address information from new retirees so that they can be added to the CCRA database. 5.3 Report on Conversation with Events Co-ordinator D. Gour reported on the cost of the last Retiree's luncheon held at the Student Residence in October. Room rental was $325, and the cost of the luncheon was $20 / person.

Membership Update / Treasurer's Report R. King will update the membership list (currently 151) and deposit fees received as a result of the last newsletter. Numbers will be assigned to those retirees who have paid their membership dues. L. Choptiany / R. King will work on a draft of a CCRA membership card. V. Bruch has opened an account with the money from the 50/50 draw and pictures sold. (Current balance $361) He will have new balance information once the membership fees and start-up donation from the Board of Governors have been deposited.

Plans for Group Social Event Discussion ensued around the following social events: Casino tours, travel, golf, Stratford Theatre, wine tasting, riding club, Royal Botanical Gardens, picnics, book exchanges, Stage West, fall boat cruise, Victorian Christmas dinner, Mennonites country tour, Shaw Festival, garage sales, BBQ's, Scarborough Players Theatre, and a CN tower tour. D. Copeland will inquire about the Royal Botanical Gardens, Bruce Barker about Barber Shop singing and V. Bruch will inquire with Hospitality (B. Dallas) re a fall BBQ / Casino / catering service / permits, etc. Another suggestion was to have a follow up luncheon with guest speakers at the Student Residence. Members should be surveyed prior to making any decision. Discussion will continue at the next meeting.

Other Business B. Barker distributed a 'Guide to Provincial Services for Seniors'.

Adjournment / Next Meeting The meeting adjourned at 1:10 p.m. The next scheduled meeting is May 12, 2003, 11 a.m.–1 p.m., in the President's Boardroom C2-21, Progress Campus.
