Reports 3.1 President – L. Choptiany  

Information on an upcoming cruise from Centennial’s STARS Travel program will be highlighted in the spring newsletter. A response was sent to J. Richardson, a travel agent, indicating that CCRA is always interested in opportunities for its retirees and that the College also has a travel program that is open to retirees. He will be invited to attend a retiree’s luncheon (or other social function / trade fair) and provide the group with a presentation if he so chooses.

Recruitment / Membership Terms:  New CCRA Directors, Tazik De Souza and Arthur Donin have each agreed to sit on CCRA’s Board for a three-year term.  Five directors terms will be up for renewal in 2006 and two will be retiring. Membership terms will be discussed at a future meeting. Bring Forward R. Hopper has resigned from the CCRA Board. Several names were suggested as possible directors who may be able to finish R.Hopper’s term of office. L. Choptiany will be in touch with these people to determine their interest in joining the CCRA Board of Directors. Bring Forward The School of Continuing Education is hosting a retirement celebration for Dean, Debby Kaplan, on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the Student Residence and Conference Centre. Donations to a scholarship fund are processed through Marcia Ross, Advancement Office, 1960 Eglinton Avenue. Retirees welcome. L. Choptiany will request a complete 2005 retirees list from the College’s Human Resources department to post in the upcoming newsletter. Bring Forward

67 people have paid dues for 2006. 2006 new members have received welcome letters and membership cards OCRA – all retirees who have paid their 2006 dues receive the OCRA Newsletter and information regarding OCRA events It was suggested that future requests for membership renewal not be mailed out just before Christmas.

Treasurer – C. D’Souza Details and summary of CCRA’s bank statements were provided. Discussion ensued on the 2006 forecast and investing in GICs. It was Moved by B. Sanderson Seconded by F. Roy That C. D’Souza be authorized to transfer $3,000 to a GIC account in CCRA’s name. Carried Ing Sutano has agreed to conduct an audit on CCRAs books within the next couple of weeks. Bring Forward

Trade Show / Talent Showcase R. Knapp received a small response from the trade show flyer distributed to retirees prior to Christmas and noted that it is a good idea that should be re-visited at another time. E. Lockhart and D.Outram who responded to the flyer, will be invited to showcase their talents with a ten-minute presentation at the spring luncheon. A new theme will be developed for each luncheon.

T. De Souza requested that the spring flyer specify that only paid members will be showcasing their talents. C. D’Souza volunteered to showcase a medical research presentation at a future luncheon. 5.

Next Newsletter CCRA’s next Newsletter will be posted on its website in addition to a mail out, January 25th. Contents of the January Newsletter will be as follows: Message from the President, membership news, tentative dates for events, In Memoriam, photos from the October 2005 General Membership Meeting, acknowledgement of the recent 2005 retirees, information on the March break cruise, and a CCRA Membership form.

Spring Luncheon The Committee discussed the spring luncheon and agreed that prices be kept to an economical range (between $12 and $15). It was decided that there would be two luncheons this year on the following dates: April 26, and November 23, a Christmas luncheon, with September 21 for the GM.  R. King agreed to do some investigating into the Blue Danube Restaurant & Banquet Hall on Ellesmere Road for the spring luncheon.  F. Roy will ask if E. Lockhart & D. Outram are willing to present at the luncheon. Action: Fred Roy  M. Bavington will look after purchasing gifts for presenters. 6.1

CCRA’s Logo CCRA would like to obtain its own logo. A number of suggestions were discussed, including looking at what other college retiree associations are doing. This item will be tabled for further discussion. Bring Forward

Mileage Claims Directors were asked to provide M. Bavington with mileage claims. Travel expenses should be received prior to the next meeting.
