TBNATS Minutes—Sunday, April 29, 2012 Home of Mary K. Wilson Meeting was called to order by chapter president Melodie Dickerson at 2:05 p.m. Melodie thanked Mary K. Wilson for hosting the meeting and for providing a lovely luncheon to the members. She also apologized for rescheduling the chapter meeting.

Old Business: Minutes Minutes were approved for the October meeting. Review of Fall Workshop Melodie mentioned that the fall workshop in October 2011 proved fruitful. With advice from Dr. Kristine Hurst-Wajszczuk’s technology lecture, she bought the Zoom Q-3 recording device for her studio. She is pleased with the sound and video quality, and how students can automatically upload their SD cards to it when they need audition recordings and such. John Thomasson added that he also bought the less expensive version, and was very pleased. The price range is around $145-300 for the devices, and they can be purchased at Amazon.com. Review of Chapter Auditions Melodie thanked Hein Jung for hosting the 2012 TBNATS Student Auditions at the University of Tampa Feb. 25. She also thanked Ed Bryant for serving as Auditions Chair. She thanked all members for participation and help. The auditions went well. Chapter auditions for 2013 will be February 23 at Southern Florida College, hosted by John Thomasson and Diane Stahl. SERNATS Review Melodie said a few chapter members made it to SERNATS Student Auditions in Montevallo, AL, and recounted that there were many good sessions offered for teachers and students, in addition to the student competition. She recounted that there were many problems with accompanists. She announced that SERNATS will be help at Stetson University, March 23, 2013.

Fall Meeting 2012 Date is tentatively set for Saturday, Sept. 29. Mark K. suggested that this year, we meet to have discussions on two topics, decided beforehand, with appointed people to lead the discussion from our chapter. Jeanie suggested that assessment of applied lessons in college be selected as one topic. The second topic has not been determined. The venue for the workshop is still being worked out.

It is suggested that we discuss an appeal process for adding to the “Approved Arias” list at Student Auditions. Melodie is on a regional committee to help create this process. If there are arias you would like to add to the list, please bring your list to the fall chapter meeting, with a copy of the music. New Members Melodie is calling on members that are national members, but not local chapter members, in our area. Assignments for calling were made. Announcements John Thomasson announced that Florida Southern college is creating a new musical theater degree program and is searching for highly qualified faculty. The meeting was adjourned around 4:30 p.m.
