¾ Secretary’s Report: Karen Lefebvre reported the IDP Membership numbers are up to 696 compared to the November‐December 2011 list of 486. She attributes this to the outreach of Council Chair’s articles, the mailing direct to membership, etc. Our secretary also suggested another mail out soliciting some monetary support from members as dues are no longer are a part of membership and contributes to IDP presence at the conferences. The www.idp‐rid.org web site has been updated and postings on the IDP Google site has increased due to the assistance from past Council Chair, Laurie. A Memorial Page under History has been created of past IDP figures i.e. Lillian Baird, etc on the web site. The secretary continues to look for ways of updating the News and Region Reports Pages. A correction was made to the recent article E‐Views, as a posting on the IDP Web site and IDP Member mail out. This article did not make it on the recent E‐Views from national. Laurie, Vice Chair suggested contacting Tina Schultz at national office in order to post a future article. By posting it on E‐Views it reaches all of the members of RID, Inc. who may not be aware of our Member Section activities. In response to this, Suzanne, the Chair indicated the summer issue of VIEWS will contain an article from IDP. ¾ Region V: The Community Forum and the IDP Member Section Meeting was facilitated by Tom Satterlee, Regional Rep. The goal of this video is to create further awareness of the Motion before the national vote. The Reframing Retreat being held at Camp Mark Seven presently has 42 registrations. The Region IV Rep reported, although unable to attend the TSID conference recently held in Houston, the topic “Soft Skills‐Hard Skills” was well received. He indicated there were 50‐60 people in attendance at this IDP supported event. Presidents Report: ¾ Motion “E” Suzanne reported there is nothing more from national on the Motion ‘E” other than it will be up for an “On‐ line’ vote to the membership in December. She also shared we are presently following the suggestions of a ‘To Do List” created by Dennis Cokely after Atlanta: The qualifications for this position, being certified; Outreach to the membership prior to the December voting; “Talking Points’ being developed; Rekindling‐Reframing sessions; Updated reports to the membership. ¾ VRSII Suzanne and Laurie held a discussion regarding a meeting with Carolyn Ball, VRSII. She presented their offer to IDP for a Pre‐Conference training to be held at the national RID conference in Indiana. Carolyn indicated to both Suzanne and Laurie, they have staff who are CODAs and are trained. These individuals can present with CODA’s in mind and their colleagues, for interpreters who are willing to improve their skills. Laurie added, these instructors would tailor their presentations to match the needs of the IDP, the native born ASL user. Suzanne, also informed the Council, VRSII offered to completely fund this event. As it would be a ‘Fund raiser’ for the IDP, a small registration fee for the participants, along with RID ceus be included is acceptable to the VRSII. Amy offered her thoughts and suggestions on the topics: i.e. Demand‐Control Schema from the perspective of a CODA. Often times, these trainings are geared toward the general population of interpreters and we, as CODAs, sometimes have a different view of how resolutions can be made. She also recommends caution in accepting complete support from Sorenson. Laurie responded to the Council on the various historical events, issues and recognizes the sensitivity we will pursue for this event. The Council members are in accord with this type of discussion and will continue with the details, further discussions and decisions as the national conference approaches in 2013. ¾ Things to do/upcoming….. o Suzanne reported the Member Section Procedural Manual is on the ‘Back Burner’ at national office. o Laurie suggests IDP revisit the ‘Alternative Pathways’ to eligibility for NIC performance exam. o Next Tele‐Conference to be held in August after the Region II and IV events. Meeting closed at 9:43pm Respectfully submitted, Karen Lefebvre, Sec.
