2015 – 2016 Experiencing the Arts Field Trip Schedule Thank you to the Mascoma School Board for approval of the faculty requested enrichment programs which Experiencing the Arts will sponsor for the 2015-16 school year. Experiencing the Arts is a grant funded program supported by grants from the Byrne Foundation and other sources. This past May, Experiencing the Arts once again offered the Mascoma faculty its annual Wish List of available programs and had faculty requests for the following programs for the 2014-15 school year. Experiencing the Arts plans on supporting faculty requested residencies in 2015/16 for the Spanish classes with weaving artist program from Mexico and for Mr. Shinnlinger’s Industrial Arts classes with Michael Kraatz, and ceramic residencies for the Art classes. In addition, Experiencing the Arts will continue to support programming at the school and to support the Hands on Week and faculty and new ideas that arise for collaboration. We hope to continue to support other ideas initiated by community members that strengthen our community ties. Experiencing the Arts will continue to sponsor alumni involvement and support participation in events such as the Christmas in Canaan display representing all Mascoma District schools. In addition to these, the following dates been given approval for faculty requested programming: October 8, 2015, Mrs. Sirotkin, All Spanish classes (110) students, “La Santa Cecillia” Hopkins Center, Dartmouth College, Hanover October 23, 2015, Mr. Morse, Art 1 students (40 students) trip to the Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, NH October 28, 2015, Junior Class (87 students) trip to the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne VT, with Mr. Chalker and other Junior class faculty. October 28, 2015, Freshmen class trip, with Anatomy and Bio Club, Body World, Portland ME Science Center November 6, 2015, Sophomore English students (70 students), “Macbeth,” Capital Center for the Arts, Concord, NH November 18, 2015, Mrs. Grout’s English and Book Club, “The Secret Life of Bees,” (25 students), Capital Center for the Arts, Concord, NH January 8, 2016, Mr. Morse, Portfolio, Art 2, Drawing classes (40 students) trip to the Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, NH March 2, 2016 Dartmouth Outreach is bringing Indian tabla player Sandeep Das for an all school assembly in the morning and he may be accompanied by another musician and a traditional Indian dancer.
