14th Annual St. Francis Xavier Stampede 5K and Children's Races USATF certified #VT13008JK October 17, 2015 Winooski, VT Weather: cloudy and drizzly rain and 40 degrees Race Director: Brandi Roy Summary: 50 runners managed through the coolest, dampest morning of autumn at this year’s event, including 13 students in the 5K, and many adults running the 2.5K. The 8th graders won the class participation title, the first time in 10 years that the class of 2013 or 2015 didn’t win the class title (it was guaranteed to happen this year). Second place went to 1st grade with 3rd grade taking third. Brian Mongeon won the men’s race in 17:08 and not too far off the course record. SFX cross country runner and 8th grader, Magda Lelito, won the women’s race in 22:04. Top SFX parents were Eric Brigham and Cathy Eustis. 11 of 30 SFX cross country runners participated in the 2.5K or 5K. It was great to see Wandu Summa and Emma Chadwick of Hunt Middle School and Essex Middle School cross country respectively. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event successful. Thanks to Hannafords and Bagel Market for donations and Fleet Feet for prizes and store certificates for participants. Thanks to Catholic Financial Life for providing food table and course volunteers and matching all money raised at the race.
