March 6, 2016 Pastor Clint Letterman “The Marks of an Effectual Doer” James 1:26-27 Question: How do you know if you are an effectual doer? 1st Mark—Embrace ___________________ .
2nd Mark—Love _____________ .
3rd Mark—Live in __________________ .
Conclusion Question: Where do I start? Location Vocation Recreation
Discussion Questions: 1. One of the signs of Christian maturity is submission to the Lordship of Christ in EVERY area of your life. What are some specific areas that you have given to Christ in the last couple years? What areas are you hesitant to give to Him? Why? 2. Scripture teaches us to “love others”. James, in these verses, narrows it to those who are helpless (i.e. orphans and widows). Who are the “helpless” in our church family? What practical ways can YOU or your small group help them? Be specific and strategic in your implementation? 3. How does the Christian live on mission (i.e. sharing and be a light for Christ to a lost world) and keep oneself unstained by the world? What practical helps or principles would you share with a brand-new Christian that asked that question? 4. In the conclusion of the sermon, Pastor Clint mentioned three basic areas to re-evaluate in our lives: Location, Vocation and Recreation. Which area/s do you need to be a brighter/more intentional light for Christ?
