QBO INNOVATION HUB O p e ra t i o n s M a n a g e r

Company Profile QBO (‘kubo”) is a first of its kind Public Private Partnership (PPP) platform for Filipino startups, created to transform the Philippine startup ecosystem by serving as a ‘hub’ that will facilitate connections and enhance collaboration among stakeholders; provide access to capital, resources, information and expertise; develop the entrepreneurial talent pool; as well as showcase Filipino ingenuity to a global audience. We aim to be the catalyst that helps local startups succeed, creating substantial wealth and job opportunities for Filipinos. QBO is a shared home for the Filipino startup community. We are bringing together motivated startup explorers and seasoned entrepreneurs who have the ideas and desire to build and grow companies, and linking them with a broader network- including government, private funds, accelerators, educational institutions, subject matter experts, established corporates- interested in developing nascent, innovative ventures and potential game changers, and that can provide resources to help startups prototype ideas, reach new markets, raise funding, gain expertise and access other support mechanisms. QBO hosts several programs and events that build capacity and a community of practice to empower entrepreneurs. In addition, we provide highly focused interventions for selected promising ventures, helping them to resolve critical operational bottlenecks and position for an exit. Finally, we also operate a workspace facility that serves as a pilot for a planned network of startup spaces around the country. Through these, we hope to help create much needed local ‘success stories’ that will jumpstart the ecosystem and in turn inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. Motivated by the vision to develop the Philippines as a center for innovation and unleash the potential of an entrepreneurship-driven economy as a means to nation building, sustainable development and inclusive growth, QBO innovation hub was launched in August 2016 through a partnership led by IdeaSpace Foundation, with the support of the JPMorgan Foundation, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Science and Technology.
