Youth Coordinator/Director Job Summary | The Youth Coordinator or Director will oversee, lead and expand the ministry to our pre‐teen and high school age youth and their families involved at Mercy. This position involves managing a team of volunteers to provide Sunday service programming for our youth to prepare them in biblical and spiritual formation as they move toward adulthood as well as developing new, additional programming. This position requires someone dedicated and driven to the service, protection, growth, and involvement of this specific group in the larger Mercy community and capable of leading a diverse group of students and families. This position can be parttime or fulltime depending on the qualifications of the candidate with start date desired no later than August 1, 2016. Key areas of responsibility: ❖ Win over the attention, hearts, and trust of our pre‐teen to teenage group ❖ Coordinate with staff and volunteers to provide pastoral care and ministry to Mercy youth and parents with classes, resources, learning/growth opportunities and crisis management ❖ Build strong communication lines with youth and their families/caregivers ❖ Lead and develop volunteers teams to execute youth church and youth events ❖ Plan youth events and take the right partners to ensure events are executed to a high standard ❖ Assess and develop curriculum for both youth and parents suited to urban youth ministry in an economically, culturally and ideologically diverse setting ❖ Recruit, develop, encourage and empower youth volunteers ❖ Work to enhance quality of relationships in the lives of our youth, especially with parents/guardians but also in fostering mentoring/coaching relationships, potential connections with other students in the community, and with larger Vineyard network of students ❖ Create a culture of Christ‐centered youth spiritual formation and personal development at Mercy ❖ Expand the outreach of youth ministry at Mercy into the Northeast neighborhood as well as where students live; connect with students in our partnership with local high school ❖ Additional duties include general church and office support as required Qualifications: ❖ Strong, Godly character ❖ Team player who works well with others to ensure the whole organization thrives ❖ Undeniable calling to extend love, fellowship, support, and direction to youth ❖ Leadership skills and demonstrable experience leading peers, groups, and youth ❖ Good communication skills and experience communicating to audiences ❖ Proven ability connecting with all people from all backgrounds, places, seasons of life, etc. ❖ An honest and holistic understanding of the culture and needs of our area’s youth ❖ Strong knowledge of the Bible, especially as it relates to teaching and reaching youth ❖ The heart and confidence to plan, lead and execute youth events ❖ Courage, perseverance and willingness to engage in family conflict resolution, difficult conversations and cross cultural learning and leadership ❖ Vision for the future of our church’s youth programs Direct inquiries or resumés with cover letters by Sunday, April 17, 2016 to receive an application packet and to be considered for interviews in May 2016 to: Mike Buerke, Lead Associate Pastor, Mercy Vineyard Church 1121 Jackson St NE Suite 130 Minneapolis MN 55413
