MINUTES OF MEETING HASTINGS PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES March 14, 2017 A regular meeting of the Hastings Library Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday March 14, 2017 at the Hastings Museum Library. Members present were: Brad Beahm, Bobbi Buchholz, Dave Hamburger, and Chris Wahlmeier. Also present were Amy Hafer, library director, Betty Grzywa library secretary, Sarah Hoops, City Council liaison and Michael Stromer, Adams County Board liaison. Absent - Sherri Andreasen, Kim Kern, and Donna Hastings. It was noted that notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by publication in the Hastings Tribune and by posting in three public places. Call to Order, Approval of the Agenda  The meeting was called to order by President Brad Beahm at 5:05 p.m.  Citizen Communication – none  A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Chris with a second from Bobbi.  Discussion:  Monthly stats are up compared to 1 year ago because the library was closed to move to a temporary location during the renovation.  Amy informed the board of a few instances where a patron has returned books with dead pests and claimed they came from the library. Amy explained the procedures that staff follows to ensure that returned items are thoroughly cleaned and checked before being returned to the stacks. Given no further discussion the board voted to approve the consent agenda. All in favor: Brad Beahm, Bobbi Buchholz, Dave Hamburger, and Chris Wahlmeier. Opposed: none. Committee Reports - None Foundation Report - None Friends Report - None Liaison Reports - None Old Business –  Building renovation should be complete by the end of July. Furnishings – Amy gave a presentation on the furnishings selected and the layout in the renovated building and shared the bids that were received. Chris made a motion to approve the selected bids with a second from Dave. All in favor: Brad Beahm, Bobbi Buchholz, Dave Hamburger, and Chris Wahlmeier. Opposed: none.  Director Evaluation – given by Brad and Bobbi.  Amy advised that the volunteer coordination tasks that were previously assigned to the PR position are being returned to the Friends of the Library.

Adjournment  Dave motioned to adjourn with a second from Bobbi. All in favor: Brad Beahm, Bobbi Buchholz and Dave Hamburger. Opposed: none.
