Teacher: Integrated Mathematics

Teacher (Non-Tenured, Term, Non-Exempt Contingent 1)
SALARY RANGE:
$3,000 - $4,000, commensurate with experience
EMPLOYMENT DATES:
June 18 – July 28, 2017 (Full-time) Student Orientation and Training is mandatory and will be held on select days during the weeks of June 5 & 12, 2017.
DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pre-College Programs is seeking innovative, student-oriented candidates to teach in its summer residential program. The successful candidate must be able to provide an integrated math course that will introduce students to the use of problem-solving mathematics in STEM areas and careers. Topics in algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, probability and statistics will be explored through use of hands-on laboratory experiments, demonstrations, audio-visual and group projects. Specific themes will be assigned to each week. Specific responsibilities will include: Developing, administering and evaluating pre- and post-tests; developing and submitting syllabus and lesson plans on content specific information using active, cooperative learning strategies; teaching daily in area(s) of expertise; monitoring student progress and attendance, preparing and submitting progress reports and program evaluations; collaborating with other faculty to create weekly team lesson; attending summer staff training and staff meetings; attending student orientation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in education or specific field required. Master’s degree in related fields, preferred. At least one year of high school or college teaching experience required. Experience utilizing various teaching strategies designed to address the individual learner is also preferred. ALL CANDIDATES MUST SUBMIT TO A BACKGROUND CHECK.
