WELCOME APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes from Dec. 5, 2017 were approved. Minutes from Jan. 9, 2018 were approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT Treasurer to report – Tammy. December carried over $1252.13 Hillberg & Berk order profit $582.09. Withdrawals $85 for incorportation and name change. Available funds $1722.84 (not including Movie Night proceeds).

OLD BUSINESS •
Movie Night – 235 people attended. o 5 cases of water, had some left o $183 given to SLC for sale of 61 Menchies frozen yogurt o Notes for next time: block off multipurpose room (kids just ran around there); lock gym washrooms (another gathering place); have intermission but make sure the canteen is well stocked at that time; had ~160 chips, get 200, and more of regular (plain) chips; ordered 20 pizzas, get 30 next time, ran out of pepperoni; bring coin rollers; arrange for blue bin/clear recycling bags for water bottles. o Total brought in $1559.30 ($183 not included), expenses $582; profit $977.30

Hillberg & Berk – no orders for Jan. 5th date. Next order date is March 5th, last order of the year! Presentation to SLC, possibly to Grade 8s for grad. Earrings ordered by March 5th will arrive by Mother’s Day. Website – update, request for suggestions. Post about the winner of the 50/50 draw so that Kathleen stops getting phone calls. Staff lunch – teacher appreciation week. The lunch on Friday would not work out due to the staff not being in the school that day, and it’s volunteer-heavy. Want to do a staff lunch on a PD day – June 15th. Save the date, will need volunteers.

Dance – Thursday, March 15th. Spring Fling or St. Patrick’s Day/Green theme. DJ has been booked by Kathleen. Menchie’s needs two business days’ notice, can deliver for $10 delivery charge. Wholesale club for ice cream spoons (little wood ones), paper plates, napkins. o Can we use both gyms, one for younger kids and one for older kids? Split by time? Lots of options discussed, such as signing kids in/out; trying to encourage older kids to attend (possibly without parents). Decided to keep it as: a parent must accompany. o Kathleen registered for Healthy Hunger – ticketing for the dance? Having a member of the SLC present at SCC meetings – Darcy has approached SLC and they have agreed. Hillberg and Berk – after the March 5th deadline, the sample necklace that H & B had donated can be raffled off. Possibly give some of the proceeds to the grade 8 grad committee? o Chelsey suggested doing the SLGA grant for the raffle. o Sunita, Chelsey, and Shazia are going to organize the raffle. o Reach out to SLC or possibly grade 8 classes before the March 5th deadline so they are aware of the H & B fundraiser and of the subsequent raffle of the sample necklace. Discussion about Grade 8 grad - both grade 8 teachers are out on leave right now. Info to be put out to Grade 8 grad students’ parents, and they will be in charge of organizing an event to mark the occasion. Wednesday June 27th 1:30pm is the Farewell Ceremony. Request for stacking cups. o Motion to spend $642.25 on sport pack stacking cup sets as presented through Sheryl Stusek’s funding request - put forward by Tammy, seconded by Sunita. Motion passed unanimously. Teacher appreciation week: o Invitations ready, go out tomorrow for staff Quote $135.60 for the hot breakfast. Curtis will cook. Jamie, Janice, and Kathleen are going to serve and clean up. Going to do it in the Staff room as opposed to the servery. Included coffee in the quote. o May need griddles. o Purchase plates, cutlery, napkins, cups, two fruit trays – Kathleen will purchase from Costco. Morning Rocket Fuel – waiting to hear from Brewed Awakenings, Good Earth, Perk (Orange Tree) – need Secret planning info hidden by text box. volunteers. Nadia has donated cupcakes to go with the coffees, Sunita and Sam to help. 2pm at the school on Sunday for door decorating. S’mores – all set to go. Two hours on Thursday $195 plus tax. Supernova surprise will likely be Thursday afternoon – gifts cards, prizes, etc. and the gift card for the staff lunch on June 15th.
