Allowable use standards may be adjusted if monitoring shows a downward trend in vegetation or watershed conditions according to the adaptive management procedure in the FLRMP 4-138.

Reasonable efforts will be m ade to invite permittees to participate in annual and long-term monitoring. If the perm ittee cannot participate, m onitoring data will be collected and shared at a later date. Perm ittees are encouraged to conduct and subm it m onitoring information. It is the responsibility o f the perm ittee to be familiar with the standards and guidelines and to ensure utilization by h is/h er livestock complies with them. T he m onitoring m ethods that will be used by the Forest Service to determ ine compliance w ith these standards and guidelines are described in the Pine Springs AMP. Salting and riding are also im portant tools with which to achieve proper utilization throughout the allotment. Salt should be placed in several locations, w ith salt grounds changed periodically. Salt m ust be placed as far from water as possible (no less th a n Vi-mile from w ater) unless explicitly directed by the Forest Officer. N o m ore than two blocks o f salt should be placed at any single location, preferably o ff the ground on a rock, log or other suitable surface. Riding should also be used as a tool to disperse livestock at turnout and throughout the grazing season to keep livestock properly distributed. P art 3 - Im provem ents may be inspected before livestock are allowed to go on the Forest. I f range im provem ents will be inspected, a Forest Service representative wiU notify you o f this requirem ent. All fences that will have livestock against them at turn out m ust be maintained to standards prior to livestock entering the allotment. Internal allotm ent fences m ust be maintained prior to livestock use. Materials for routine im provem ents maintenance wiU be furnished by the permittee. A herd m ovem ent record and expense record is enclosed for you to keep track o f your actual livestock num bers, m ove dates, and expenses. These records m ust be com pleted during the season and returned to this office by O ctober 31, 2017. T he inform ation is compiled as a perm anent record o f actual grazing use for each allotm ent on the District and entered into our national database. Therefore, it is im perative that you complete these forms thoroughly and rem m them.
