Union Academy Freshman Earns School’s First State Championship On Tuesday, May 9th, 2017, Union Academy freshman Nick Smith made school history by being named the North Carolina High School 1A State Champion for golf. There were 84 golfers in the tournament. Nick’s combined score total for the two day championship was 145. Our awesome students gathered in the high school gym on Wednesday to celebrate Nick’s accomplishment. Following the school day, Nick got to throw out the first pitch at the UA baseball game. Upper Campus News On Saturday, April 29th, Union Academy’s first Lego-Robotics teams competed at the North Carolina State Lego-Robotics Championship. They competed against 48 other teams from across the state. Nine students from 5th through 8th grade demonstrated their year-long robotics programming, participated in a team challenge, and presented a research project as part of the competition!

Union Academy Parent Survey Middle school and high school students grades 5-11 will receive their yearbooks during lunches on Monday, May 15th. Please make sure your child is aware that he or she has a yearbook to pick up.

Middle School Outstanding Student Nominations

On June 2, the middle school will hold the final Academy Awards character assembly for the school year and would like to recognize students who are OUTSTANDING in Character, Community, and/or Challenge. Please help us recognize these OUTSTANDING middle school students by filling out a Student Recognition nomination form: http://bit.ly/MSNominate. Nominations are due by 12 pm on Monday, May 22.

Lower Campus News Cardinal Mini Book Camps Parents of rising Kindergarten through 5th grade students, This summer we are excited to offer Cardinal Mini Book Camps for our students! We will have two separate mini book camps planned over the summer in the month of June. Students are invited to our lower campus where they will be placed in small groups according to grade level, and they will read a designated book for that session focused on character and life lessons. They will also be participating in various FUN activities related to what they learn. Staff and volunteers will be there to lead small groups of students through each of the activities. Students are welcome to attend one OR both of the book camp sessions. Check out our bullet points of information: • Dates are June 13th and June 15th • Students can sign up for one OR both sessions • Times are from 9:00am-1:00pm • Snacks and small waters will be provided • Students need to pack a lunch and drink • There is a $5 fee per child per session
