FRECKLETON CLUB DAY SPORTS COMMITTEE Dear Runner Thank you for your entry for the 54th Freckleton Half Marathon and 42nd ladies race.

The race will start, as usual, at 2.00 p.m. on Sunday 17th June 2018 from Bush Lane playing fields in Freckleton, post code PR4 1SB (see map). There will be plenty of car parking spaces, changing rooms and showers. You will need to collect on race day both your Race Number and your Timing chip. Please collect these before 1.15pm , the timing chip to be returned at the end of the race. You must also read the race day instructions which are attached.

There is a 2 mile Family Fun Run (minimum age 4, no dogs) , family entertainment and refreshments before, during and after the race so please feel free to make a day of it.

There will be 5 drinks stations with sponges and showers also available at each drinks station.

RACE DAY INSTRUCTIONS. Please read and observe the following to help the race day run smoothly. ✓ The race starts at 2pm prompt. ✓

Please arrive early and park only where directed by the marshals. The race venue will be clearly signed. Note the “Race Number & Timing Chips” need to be collected from the marquee by 1.15pm.

✓ Your Race number is advised via email which you need to present to collect the number together with the timing chip. If you are unable to run, Please do not transfer your email to someone else without informing us via the “Transfers Process” as detailed on our web site. We need to know the names of the people on the course for safety reasons. Anyone who transfers their number without completing a transfer form will be disqualified. ✓ Numbers must be attached to your FRONT ONLY using 4 pins. Please bring these with you. Numbers must not be folded or altered in any way. The sponsors pay for their name to be on the number. Please make sure their name can be seen. ✓ Chip Timing. When you present your email to pick up your race number, you will also collect your personalised timing chip. This is designed to be attached to your footwear and must be removed at the finish. Please help us with this by arriving as early as possible. ✓ Medical information. You must complete the back of your number with your personal and medical details. We hope it’s not needed but in a medical emergency this is the first place the paramedics will look. ✓ Please discourage your friends and family from following the race by car to avoid congestion on the course. Thank you ✓ MP3 players and i-pods. These are now forbidden, we please ask that for your safety please refrain from using these in the race. ✓ If you lose your email, you must make this known at the trouble shooting desk a.s.a.p. and we will do our best to help.  Numbers and times will be recorded as you pass through the finish funnel. PLEASE KEEP IN FINISHING ORDER IN THE FUNNEL.  Have a good run but for your own health and safety, if you get into difficulties, stop and seek help from a marshal or a first aider.  The race is well marshalled. Please follow the marshals and police instructions at all times, especially when crossing roads  Drinks stations at approx 3 miles, 5.5 miles, 8 miles, 10.5 miles, and 12 miles. There are sponges at all drinks stations and showers at selected drinks stations  Changing and showers are available at the Race Headquarters.  Presentation at 4.30pm approx. Please stay, especially if you think you have won a prize.  Results will be available from www.ukresults.net as soon as possible after the race.

 Finally, the roads are still open so please be aware of traffic.

Half Marathon Post code for sat nav users: PR4 1SB Directions: (M6)M55 to Blackpool. Leave at jct.3. Turn left after slip road and go straight on through 3 roundabouts. At the 4th roundabout turn left towards Preston for aprox.1 mile. At 1st traffic lights turn right and continue to Freckleton. From Preston (M61) : Follow signs for A583 Lytham St.Annes. The start is sign posted as “Freckleton Club Day Sports and half marathon” from the village centre.
