Why do you use it? It was the one that we bought (7th ed) when the course started. It is certainly thorough enough for the class. I also like the supplementary materials Used by most large universities. Used by the University of Texas and Texas A&M, where most of my students end up going to college. 8th edition. It was purchased last year prior to my term as teacher. Almost enough detail. Age appropriate reading level. Does not scare off grade 11 students. Previous AP Bio teacher at my school chose it It's a classic, and the ancillaries are useful. x Most colleges in my area use Campbell/Reece Most colleges in my area use Campbell/Reece I use Campbell AP 8th edition Students are required to read the chapters on their own while completeing the provided Reading Guides. They get HW participation grades if they have completed the RG. I grade them for completeness not accuracy. I use the Campbell PP slides that I have modified for lecture.

Why do you use it? was in use before I started teaching it haven't really looked at any other texts. I thought it would be a good complement to the new AP Bio framework. It is what was here when I took over the class, but I had also used it back when I was an AP Bio student as well as in college. It was chosen by the teacher before me for it's readability -Same text used at our state universities: Iowa State, University of Iowa and University of Northern Iowa -Depth of the information -Same authors wrote Concepts and Connections used in Molecular Biology which is a recommended course before AP Biology District Adoption. We have 60,000 students in our district. Can't afford to get a new set of something I like better. It is very limited on details and the pictures are so-so. Most of the Colleges in the Phila. region seem to use Campbell, so I thought it would dovetail into what students would see in college.

Why do you use it? It is what was purchased. It is the book that my district purchased. I think it is pretty awesome. We have access to so many resources. However, I find that some of the websites are repetitive (i.e. MasteringBio and pearson seem to be similar). The reading guides are also a great tool. Inherited it from the previous teacher. I inherited it. old edition- have not been able to buy new I use Campbell because I am very familiar with it. It was chosen as the AP Text before I took over AP BIO and I have stayed with it. I started my studnets with the 5th edition of the big Campbell, and my students had a hard time keeping upwith the reading. I may switch back, though. Had always used Raven & Johnson. Wanted to try Campbell - swayed by a respected student who thought it was more "stand alone" in including background info.

Why do you use it? Campbell 6th ed. was in place when I was charged with AP Biology. The following year we were up for text adoption. I liked 6th and adopted 8th ed. AP. It is a Canadian version. Very similar to Campbell. Interesting changes in text organization. It is a Canadian version. Very similar to Campbell. Interesting changes in text organization. Its what was used by the previous teacher Simpler with less details and lots of pictures I also teach at a University in our area, and they use this text as well as many other colleges. However, unlike universities, I will still be using my 7th edition, rather than the newer ones. Wasn't really given a choice! County chose this book. I do like the online resources. Why do you use it? My district bought it. I have old Campbell's that I prefer and often use. Because its the "gold standard" for AP Bio. That said though, I am leaning toward Starr and Taggart with the new curriculum. Would love to hear fellow AP teachers thoughts on other books though! I'm just a rookie at AP and so is my school. I read reviews and this one was pretty well reviewed. It also appeared to be the most fuctional for a cyber school. I am finding it isnt living up to what I thought. Always have? Honestly, it was the book recommended to me when I first started the course at my school and I really have enjoyed the writing style as well as the graphics. (Oh, yeah...my students like it as well!)

It's the book my 2/5/2012 8:58:02 county adopted. I switched to "Principles of Life" this year from Raven and Johnson. I have mixed feelings about this change. The students seem to be reading more of the book but there is important material which is excluded from the text. The website is good and includes a quiz program that advances as the students improve their scores. The test bank is more reasonable for high school students than the "big" 2/19/2012 1:03:06 Campbell. Timestamp
