Leviticus 20:7 (NIV) Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am the Lord your God.

Hebrews 3:12-13 (ESV) Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Numbers 23:19 (ESV) God is not man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

John 3:17 (NIV) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Blessings Not Curses for the Israelites Numbers 23—23
Twice, King Balak of Moab had sent men to hired Balaam, the man of God, to curse the Israelites. Finally, Balaam arrived last Wednesday. Early Thursday morning, the king took Balaam to a high lookout so that they could see part of the Israelite camp. At Balaam’s request, the king built seven altars and offered gifts to God. Balaam went off to pray. When he returned, he blessed the Israelites. Furious, the king took Balaam to a different lookout. Once again the king offered gifts to God on seven altars. Once again Balaam went off to pray.
This time, Balaam told the king the God planned good things for the Israelites not bad. God had plans for these people. Angrily, King Balak took Balaam to another lookout. Again the king offered gifts to God on seven altars.

For the third time, Balaam blessed the Israelites. “The people of God have beautiful tents. They look like gardens by a river. They look like cedar trees by the water. Their king will be great. Their kingdom will be great. People who pray for good
things of them will get good things. People who pray for bad will get bad things themselves. A very special person will come from these people. HE will be like a star. He will win over his enemies. God’s people will get strong.” Of course when King Balak heard these words, he was very, very angry.
