A ROAD TRIP TO LADAKH FROM MUMBAI

Pack your bags and get on your bikes to enjoy the super enthralling trip!” I read it somewhere, and so I decided to go for this stimulating trip along with my 6 dearest pals. Before starting the journey though there was few safety measures that we decided to take to have a safer journey. "It is important that at no point you

are so over excited that your bike goes out of control", I told them. We made some rules regarding speed: we decided that no one would be driving above 80 km and that we won't try to overtake any vehicle. We tried to enjoy every bit of our journey! The route we adopted was different from the usual one because we wanted to enjoy ourselves by visiting rare yet stirring places.

Route: Mumbai, Navsari, Akleshwar, Vadodra, Godhara, Udaipur,

Beawar, Ajmer, Kishnagarh, Jaipur, Shahpura, Neemrana, Rohtak, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Pathankot, Srinagar, Kargil and Leh.

Mumbai to Ahmedabad

Mumbai- Gateway of India

The distance between Mumbai to Ahmedabad is 536 km and on your route, you'll come across Navsari, Akhleshwar, Vadodara, Godhara and finally Ahmedabad. We began our ride by 8 o'clock in the morning. There are a couple of good eateries on the way and we stopped by a dhaba and enjoyed the appetizing breakfast. The path was filled with scenic views and so we stopped and took some photographs. As soon as we entered Gujarat, we felt an air of hospitality. The state has an affable ambiance and is quite clean with top-notch hotels, restaurants and tourists spots.

Nyay Bhawan- Vadodara

We visited the Dandi Beach in Navsari and clicked selfies in the Golden Bridge at Akhleshwar. We finally reached Ahmedabad, booked a decent hotel and after an hour of rest, we left to explore the city. We visited the Sabarmati Ashram and got spendthrift in Lal Darwaza. Then around 11 o’ clock we returned to the hotel and stayed there overnight. A break was essential to gear up for the next day.

Jama Masjid - Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad to Udaipur The next morning brought in a whole new experience for us. We were about to enter the beautiful and artistic state- Rajasthan. We started our trip early in the morning and stopped by a hotel for breakfast only when we crossed the Rajasthan border. The cuisine of Rajasthan is really sumptuous and it as really a treat to our taste buds.

Pratap Gaurav Center - Udaipur

The entire route to Udaipur is extremely beautiful and full of picturesque views. We took regular breaks in our ride and took a plethora of pictures to treasure. We reached Udaipur at around 5 p.m and booked a beautiful villa. We took some rest, freshened up and then went towards Udaipur Lake Palace. We explored the exotic lake and got few photos clicked. Udaipur to Jaipur This was the most picturesque route that we had ever seen, so we made few videos of the route and our journey. The roads were well developed and we drove swiftly. Soon we were caught up in traffic, so we diverted ourselves to another path that took us through a village in Ajmer.

Jaipur – Pink City

Then after an hour, we returned to the main road and by the evening we reached Jaipur. Jaipur is really a Pink City, with pink buildings and pink shops. We booked a hotel and then went to Hawa Mahal after getting fresh. We returned to the hotel at night and took a rest there. Jaipur to Kurukshetra In our journey from Jaipur to Kurukshetra, we explored many locations like Shahpura, Neemrana, Rohtak and historical Panipat. We knew that our destinations were more of historical places rather than urban. We stayed in each for a while and relived history and tried to recall the stories that we had heard about battles, especially the Battle of Panipat.

Neemrana Fort

These places made us explore the unique culture of each place and we enjoyed the flavorsome exotic food of each abode. We enjoyed in the Tilyar Lake in Rohtak, visited the Panipat Museum and clicked pictures in the Neemrana Fort. Finally, we reached Kurukshetra - the city of battleground of Mahabharata. We explored the place and stayed there for a day. We visited Brahma Sarovar, Jyotisar, Rantukha Yaksh and Raja Karna Ka Kila. Kurukshetra to Leh Next morning we started the final phase of our journey. Excitedly we started from 4 o' clock in the morning. This phase was a bit different as our route had a transformation from a plain terrain to a hilly terrain.

As soon as we entered Pathankot, we could feel a change in the climate, we felt cooler and fresher as we forged nearer and nearer to Srinagar. When we reached the beautiful city Srinagar, we were awe-struck. It is so much beautiful that was way beyond our imaginations. We clicked oodles of photographs and even stayed there for a day and felt the tranquility and magnificence of the place.

Dal Lake, Sri Nagar

We explored the Dal Lake, Jama Masjid and Nishat and Shalimar Bagh. It was such a pleasant experience out there. Finally, after a day's stay in Srinagar, we left for Leh. Kargil fell between our route and we even saw the line of control. The place instilled patriotism in our hearts and we saluted the soldiers. Lastly, we left for Ladakh and the moment we reached

Ladakh Higway

Ladakh, all of us were filled with ecstasy as we had achieved something. At least for us, it was like an achievement!
