What is The Need of Bullet Train in India? Fare, Route, Benefits, and Challenges

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated a great step of HSR, that is High speed railways in India, these trains runs at the speed of 250 km/h or higher. With the support of government of Japan, Indian Railways is all set to start working in the new bullet train project in India. It will run from Ahmedabad to Mumbai and covers the route nearly 500-km. But the question arises that What is The Need of Bullet Train in India? It is being asked by the people that why it is necessary when there are already some projects which are required to done first. As huge expenses are to be made by the government and according to them this money or resources should be used on pending projects. However expenses are not an issue Japan has offered a loan of Rs 88,000 crore for which they will charge only 0.1 per cent interest rate. And the most amazing thing is that loan is to be paid in the course of 50 years, with a moratorium of 15 years. Piyush Goyal a railways addressed that bullet train project will complete by August 15, 2022, when our India will complete its 75 years of independence. It will cost nearly Rs 1.1 lakh crore to complete this project, though it will have some advantages but on the other side they are some hurdles for the same.

8

PJH Aayina

Why We Need a Bullet Train Highest connectivity: The bullet train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai covers the distance of 508 km within three hours which really amazing, this bullet train project will ultimately give positive outcome in the form of economic growth in Gujarat and Maharashtra State. Employment: The bullet train project will release employment opportunities as PM Modi already mentioned it while inauguration. It is expected that there will be nearly 4,000 direct job opportunities and approximately 20,000 indirect jobs. Moreover 20,000 construction workers will be also appointed while setting up the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project. Urban Growth:

9

PJH Aayina There are new bullet train stations which is to be set up following the route, this will ultimately respond in development of urban areas. Open new avenues: After the successful completion of Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project, there will surely be chances for high-speed train technologies projects various destination across India, as more parties will be attracted towards it and will put forward steps in this field. Challenges Land acquisition: There is need to acquire plenty of land for building new bullet trains tracks and construction of new stations has to go through barriers. Getting land has already become a problem as in Mumbai land could not be acquired at economical budget. Stoppages: There will be only two stoppages that are in Vadodra and Surat, the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train will take 2 hours to complete its journey, if the stoppages will increase the journey time will exceed up to three hours. However it will result in decreasing the average speed. Profitability: There are also flights available for the same route Ahmedabad to Mumbai at economical prices, so there might be chances of people preferring flight instead bullet train because it is expected that prices will be as similar as airlines. However the prices are still to be finalized, this might restrict volume of passengers opting to travel with bullet trains, hampering profitability.

Rohingya Crisis: Who They Are? Why Are They Leaving Myanmar? Details Myanmar’s government biased polices gave rise to Rohingya Crisis, the discriminatory policies of Myanmar is being implemented from 1970s and ultimately it has now forced thousands of Muslim Rohingya to leave their homes and move away from predominantly Buddhist country. Most of the Rohingya Muslim has moved to Bangladesh by land whereas some others have chosen to move to Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand through the sea area.

12

PJH Aayina

Recommencing activities which are violent such as rape, murder, and arson in 2016 and 2017, has dethrone Rohingya communities in western Myanmar. Their situation has been termed as inadequate, said by the sources reached from neighbouring areas, that are the places where have been slowing down the accommodation flow of émigré. Who are the Rohingya?

The Rohingya are an ethnic minority of Muslim community, they basically follow a Sufi-inflected variation of Sunni Islam. There are numerous Rohingya nearly one million who lives in Rakhine State of Myanmar, they are accounted there as one-third of the total population. Rohingya are very much different from Myanmar’s dominant Buddhist groups as both have different ethnics, language, religious and more.

13

PJH Aayina

Rohingya Leaving Myanmar Owing to these differences the government of Myanmar has effectively kept on discrimination against Rohingya ethnic group, they do it by putting restrictions on marriage, family planning, employment, education, religious choice, and freedom of movement etc. For example, Rohingya couples who stay in the northern parts such as Maungdaw and Buthidaung they are allowed to have two children but not more than two as it is restricted. Rohingyas also have to attain permission to get marry, due to which they might have to sometime bribe the authorities and had to give pictures of their bride without a face cover and the groom’s pictures must be with clean-shave face. However all these practices are against their religious customs, thus they have given rises to conflicts. Not only this if they wish to move to new place or desire to travel somewhere outside of the town, Rohingya have to seek approval from government.

14

PJH Aayina

Rakhine is a state in Myanmar, which is least developed state in the least country attaining 78 percent of poverty rate, thus this widened poverty, poor infrastructure, and least employment opportunities have generated a split between Buddhists and Muslim Rohingya. It is considered that this deep tension in Rohingyas is generated due to religious differences which ultimately resulted in Rohingya Crisis.
