U-PASS Advisory Board Regular Meeting May 6th, 2016 I.

Agenda Introduced Alice: I’d like to propose the addition of an item on shuttles, Item 3, for 5 minutes. Hester: Motion to approve. Agenda amended and approved at 2:16pm

Item 1 – Support of Fee Chairs’ Written Recommendations Cooper: I just got off the phone with Adam (Khan), and he wanted me to report that he has received one of the two remaining signatures. Once the last signature is acquired the statement will be submitted, and then the AB can act.

Item 2 – Draft AB Resolution Supporting Universal Faculty and Staff Pass Hester: Here’s the rough draft of a resolution in support of a Faculty and Staff Universal Pass. The resolution points out how the Student U-PASS has been able to stabilize the fee, and the big difference between student and faculty in terms of single occupancy vehicle and transit ridership. The language is crafted in a way where we are sensitive to not sounding like we are instructing Faculty and Staff how to do it. Rather, we are just lending our support to Faculty and Staff efforts to explore a universal option. Zack: There are some logistical issues that would arise from implementation. Hester: Right, but we as an AB don’t need to worry about that because we are not the implementers? Zack: That’s correct. Hester: Should we add in language of provision in addition to adoption?

Zack: There’s a University Transportation Committee but they don’t oversee the Faculty Staff UPASS budget like the AB oversees the Student U-PASS. I think the correct bodies might be the UW admin, and/or the Benefits Office. Michelle: Just addressing it to ‘the University of Washington’ would cover all your bases. Alice: One small thing, I would consider the part from “Universalization…” onwards as a “whereas” clause. You could then have multiple therefore clauses if needed. Hester: Great, and I can also have this draft in an online form which I can send to you all after the meeting. Could I ask for comments by the end of Monday? Timmy: Not a problem. Item 3- Shuttle program Alice: I recently talked to Charles Tennyson about shuttle program, and also Jon Massey in a previous meeting, and also another person in Transportation Services about the Safezone program. I just wanted to bring up the suggestion that Safezone should be considered as a component of the U-PASS going forward. *Timmy leaves* *Discussion about compiling an annual report for this year’s AB, Cooper agrees to look into a solution* Item 4 – AB Orientation/Retreat Scheduling Update Cooper: As was discussed at the last meeting our tentative retreat time is 1-3pm, June 3rd. I will book a HUB room soon. I would suggest we draft an agenda together at the last meeting before the retreat to make sure you all have some input on what you would like to have covered. Item 5 – AB Appointments Update Sarah: At the GPSS end we are trying to maintain current appointments. Anna and I will be here next year, meaning we are looking for just one new appointment for Hester’s vacated spot. I brought up appointments at last week’s GPSS meeting, but during elections season it probably went unnoticed. We still anticipate having that spot filled in late May per our agreed deadline. Zack: Tyler sent out the ASUW appointment application last week, so that process is also underway. Alice: Cooper could you forward me that application? Cooper: Absolutely. Adjourned at 2:34pm
