XIIth Australian Bryophyte Workshop The XIIth Australian Bryophyte Workshop is being held in the picturesque Mackay/Whitsunday region of central Queensland. The workshop will be based north of Eungella on the Clarke Range approximately 1 hours’ drive west of Mackay. Registration is now open for the workshop.

Venue & Dates Quandong Creek Rainforest Lodge 1073 Dalrymple Road, Eungella Sunday 29th June to Friday 4th July 2014

Venue Surrounded by the iconic Eungella National Park, Quandong Creek Rainforest Lodge will play host to the workshop. The lodge sits 880m above sea level and is nestled within the surrounding rainforest. The lodge provides shared dormitory type facilities with camping areas also available. Each dormitory room sleeps nine in bunk beds. Quandong Creek also has tents and extra bedding available if you wish to have some privacy. A general store is located at Eungella village.

Eungella The Eungella area has an average annual rainfall in excess of 2,000mm, mostly falling in the traditional wet season between December and March. Daily temperatures for June/July range from a low of 10°C to a high of 24°C. Despite being tropical, temperatures near to zero are common throughout winter with snow fall recorded twice – in 1964 and 2000. See www.eungella.com.au for more information.

Eungella means “land in the clouds” in the language of the Wiri people.

Field Trips & Collecting Daily field trips will be undertaken to sites throughout the Mackay/Whitsunday region. Collecting will be permissible under the conditions of a scientific purposes permit issued by the Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage Protection.

Getting there By air Mackay is serviced by domestic flights from most capital cities as well as regular bus and train services. International airports are located at Cairns, Townsville and Brisbane. Transport to and from Mackay Airport to the workshop venue will be available.

By road Follow Mackay-Eungella Road to the Eungella village. At top of range turn right into Cummings Street and then right into Dalrymple Road and follow for 10.7km. Entrance to Quandong Creek is on the left.

Scientific content As with previous workshops there will be the opportunity to present either spoken or poster presentations during the evening sessions. If you would like to give a presentation please provide a title in the space provided in the registration form.

XIIth Australian Bryophyte Workshop Registration Terms & Conditions 1. Payment for the workshop must be received at the time of registration or within a time negotiated with the workshop convenor (no more than 14 days). Until payment is received your name will appear on the workshop WAIT LIST and will be moved into the attendee list once your payment is received. Tax receipts will be issued to participants via email after payment is received. 2. Cheques and direct transfers are accepted as payment options. Credit card payment is not accepted. 3. Cancellation: Where it is necessary for you to cancel your registration and your payment has been received a 10% cancellation fee will apply. (1) All such cancellations must be advised in writing. (2) Persons wishing to cancel their registration for the workshop must do so at least ten (10) business days prior to the workshop commencement. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of 100% of the registration fees previously paid. 4. Refunds: To obtain a refund of workshop fees paid please provide the workshop convenor with (1) the original receipt issued at time of payment, or (2) another form of proof of identity. Registration fees WILL NOT be refunded where a person fails to attend the workshop and has not previously notified the workshop convenor (see above). 5. Registration fees will not be refunded after the commencement of the workshop. 6.
