ACS was named to the College Board’s AP 5th Annual Honor Roll for expanding opportunity and improving performance for Advanced Placement students. AHS was named in Newsweek’s Best High Schools for 2013-‐2014. AHS Scholar’s Bowl team qualified for regional play for three years, one of those advancing to state finals. Athens City Schools fielded 49 athleDc teams in 2014-‐2015 on the 7-‐12 Level. 14 of the 17 AHS Varsity teams competed in the AHSAA state championship playoffs, Girls Soccer advancing to the final four, Swimming, Wrestling, Cross Country, Track and Golf all had individuals advancing to state championships. Boys Basketball and Boys Soccer advanced to the Final 8 status. AHS is implemenDng a comprehensive year-‐round weight training program for all athletes to promote a healthy lifestyle and enhance performance.
u ACS students scored above the state and national average in every grade level on the ACT Aspire assessment of reading and math (Spring 2014)! u ACS eleventh graders scored above the state average on the ACT plus Writing (Spring 2014). ! u The graduation rate in ACS has consistently been above the state and national average. In 2014, the graduation rate at AHS was 93%.! u AHS students taking Advanced Placement courses had an 87% success rate (2013-2014).
