ADAM Architecture is calling for entries for this year’s Student Travel Scholarship to support and reward outstanding research in architecture and urban design. The theme for this years entries is “Art & Craftsmanship”. Undergraduate and graduate students at architecture schools in the UK and overseas are invited to apply for the £1,500 award to fund their research, overseas travel and accommodation. The scholarship is now in its 10th year and has a successful track record of supporting students to engage in international research. Entries are sought from all UK and overseas schools of architecture students, from Part I up to 3 years after Part II, or equivalent qualification. The closing date for entries is 24th April 2015. - A shortlist of entries will be compiled by members of the judging panel. The directors at ADAM Architecture reserve the right to change the panel of judges if circumstances dictate. - Students shortlisted to receive the 2015 Travel Scholarship will be required to attend an interview to present their research proposal to the panel of judges. This will be in London, or via webcam if student lives outside the UK. The date for interviews will be announced shortly and you should make every effort to be available on this day. The overall winner will be chosen by the panel of judges following the interviews. - The prize of £1,500 will be made in 2 payments. £750 at the time the scholarship is awarded and a further £750 on the presentation of the research. If the award is given to a student outside the UK, the prize of £1,500 will be converted into their local currency. - The individual who is awarded the scholarship must be prepared to present his or her work in person to the Directors, other members of ADAM Architecture and selected people within the architectural profession, as decided by ADAM Architecture. This presentation is likely to take place in London and the winner will be expected to make their own travel arrangements. Travel Scholarship 2015
INFORMATION - The research is to be a significant piece of original work. Sources are to be identified and referenced to acknowledge intellectual debt to the authors and support specific facts. - There is to be no subsequent change to the title or scope of the project as presented at the interview, unless discussed with the directors. The completed project is to be presented in the agreed format and within the agreed timeframe. It is recognised however that, for practical reasons, modifications may become necessary, but these are not to be made without the prior agreement of ADAM Architecture. - ADAM Architecture will have joint copyright of the research report and reserve the right to publish it in whole or in part.
- Proof of travel arrangements and adequate insurance cover for travel and health is required. - ADAM Architecture will take no responsibility for travel or other administrative arrangements which are to be made by the chosen student. - ADAM Architecture accepts no liability in respect of the personal safety of the winner or any other outcome that may result from the award of this scholarship. - The winner agrees to be available for media interviews should these be appropriate and for their name and images to be made available to and published in the media.
