Finished Size Gunter is about 6” tall, 3” diameter Supplies • Yarn: worsted weight yarn such as Vanna's Choice in the following colors: black, white, yellow • Needles: 1 set size 4 double pointed needles • Tapestry needle • Stitch markers • Felt: small scraps in black and white • Poly pellets • Poly-fil • Glue gun OR white and black embroidery thread (for Jake's face) Gauge Isn't important so long as your stitches aren't too loose or too tight. Directions Body With black yarn, CO 6 sts, divide sts btwn 3 dpns and join in rnd. Wings (Make 2) With black yarn, CO 10 sts, divide evenly btwn 2 dpns and join in rnd. Tummy CO 18 sts in white. Rows 1-20: knitting flat, work in st st, beginning with a k row and ending with a p row. Row 21: k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 (16 sts) Row 22-24: work in st st Row 25: k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 (14 sts) Row 26: p Row 27: k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 (12 sts) Row 28: k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 (10 sts) Row 29: k1, k2tog, k2tog k to last 5 sts, ssk, ssk, k1 (6 sts) Row 30: k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 (4 sts) BO. Toe 1 K3 sts, put these 3 sts and the last 3sts on dpns, move the rest of live sts to st holders. You should have 6 sts divided on 2 dpns. Join in rnd. Rnds 1-2: k Rnd 3: [k3tog] twice Break yarn and pull thru sts. Toe 2 Place the middle 8 sts on 2 dps (they are the next 4 sts on either side of the foot) and join in rnd. Rnds 1-3: k Rnd 4: k2tog around Break yarn and pull thru sts. Toe 3 Place the last 6 sts on 2 dpns and join in rnd. Rnds 1-2: k Rnd 3: [k3tog] twice Break yarn and pull thru sts.

Beak (Make 2) With yellow yarn, CO 8 sts. Divide evenly btwn 2 needles and join in rnd. Rnds 1-3: k Rnd 4: [k2tog, k2] twice (6 sts) Rnds 5-6: k Rnd 7: [k2tog, k1] twice (4 sts) Rnd 8: [k2tog] twice (4sts) Break yarn and pull thru sts. Finishing Sew the tummy to the front of the body. Sew the wings to the sides, about 2/3 up from the bottom. Sew the feet to the underside of the body with only the toes showing. Sew the two pieces of the beak together. Attach the beak in the middle of the tummy, about level with wings. Using the picture as a guide, cut out circles of black and white felt to use for his eyes. Either sew or glue them to Gunter’s face so the bottom of the eye is level with the top of Gunter’s beak.
