About 1 lac Citizens were impacted over seven days

“Modernity needs to understand that being rich and becoming rich are not mathematically, personally, socially, and ethically the same thing.” – N. Taleb Give students a pulpit and a pedestal and you will see them transform the very fabric of our social decorum. The mere fact that the otherwise stubborn obstinacy of societal faults yields only to the alchemy of students, and youth was all the inspiration needed. The students and faculty members of CKSVIM along members of CII YI were on a singular Mission: Address Shri Narendra Modi’s Five National Missions for the people of the city. This change was brought about by a brilliantly executed AIMS National Management Week 2016 that is celebrated every year in the first week of August; this time for the fourth consecutive year at CKSVIM Business School, Vadodara. The week that began with welcoming the 8th batch of new MBA students, quickly transformed into a fecund cauldron where everyone shared their collective resources towards bringing the society closer to ONE-NESS. We are proud to belong to a city where noble intentions are a norm and being able to garner support for them is a bygone conclusion. But what sets NMW 2016 apart is a unique blend that ensures success. The imagination of a genius vastly surpasses his/her intellect; the intellect of an academic vastly surpasses his/her imagination. At, CKSVIM, we have vision of the genius along with razor-sharp intellect of the academic. Add management experience to this, and what materializes, is a robust team, with surgical precision, that pulverizes every social evil, and promotes every social good. The devil is certainly in the details.

For the past two years, SMJV’s CKSVIM is adjudged the Best B-school for “"AIMS National Management Week - Community Social Responsibility" from among 700 B-schools throughout the country. We intend to continue our journey and bring a greater joy to India!

Event 1

Welcoming

The most important step is always the first step! Welcoming the new batch of students, in keeping with our tradition, always marks the commencement of NMW 2016!

Event 2

Orientation

It’s very difficult to look at a blank page and come up with a florid limerick; even the best of students need a conducive atmosphere, a foundation to build upon! At CKSVIM, that foundation was provided by Mr. Harendra Patel, Jt. President, HR, Aditya Birla Group (Dahej, Gujarat) and Prof. Dr. Ramesh Shah from DHBW State Cooperative University (Stuttgart, Germany) as Chief Guest / Guest of Honor.

Event 3

School Visits

The greatest investment one can make is in the welfare of children. Our demographic dividend can become a demographic as if the young generation is empowered with Knowledge & Skills. In one week, our 200 MBA students directly reached 57 Government Municipal Schools (out of 105 schools in Vadodara) including 7 Rural Schools, and directly interacted with more than 6,300 school children to create awareness regarding health and hygiene, Digital India, Swachh Bharat and all the Government benefits they can avail off. Information to safe-guard their interests through Child Helpline 1098 (Project Masoom) was also disseminated. Stationery items worth Rs. 12,000 were donated to the children, creating wonderful smiles on their little faces

Event 4

Project Masoom (1098)

Probably the most vulnerable section of our society is the children and as a responsible citizenry, we must all join hands to protect them Ms Priya Jagdale, Director, Baroda Citizen Council, Ms Ruta Patel and Ms. Pratiksha Shah of CII YI introduced us to one such noble endeavour: Project Masoom Project Masoom is all about understanding the needs of children on the streets of India, of figuring out how to reach them effectively, of putting in place the structure that could take the distressed child to the mainstream of his or her life. The Child Helpline Number of Project Masoom is 1098.

Event 5

Movie for Blind Girls

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever!” so quipped John Keats. Probably the greatest montage of Indian culture is our Cinema. But why must our differently abled brothers and sisters remain befret of a slice of our culture? Students along with intellectual ideas from CII YI “showed” the movie “3 idiots” to the blind people at Lion’s club’s blind girls’ school. The movie was specially made for a visually impaired audience wherein they “hear” the movie and visualize the scenes. The concept was very well received.

Event 6

Visit to Orphanage

As a part of showing compassion, Students and faculty members of CKSVIM visited Sewa-Tirth orphanage. This orphanage takes care of the neglected, the mentally challenged and the alienated of the society. Stationery items were distributed to the students. A small competition was also undertaken wherein the questions in sign language were asked and the first to answer was rewarded with a chocolate.

Event 7

De-Addiction Campaign

During the entirety of NMW 2016, combating the scourge of addiction always remained a priority. More than 2,500 cards were distributed extolling the citizenry to abdicate the evil of addiction. Approximately 10,000 members benefitted.

Event 8

Traffic Awareness

Probably the greatest nuisance plaguing any city is its unwieldy traffic. India has an alarming fatality rate attributable to road-accidents. During NMW 2016, Students and faculty from CKSVIM with members of CII YI collaborated to increase the awareness regarding traffic rules among the commuters. “Free left” and “No Honking” were given particular importance. Shri Bharat Dangar, Hon. Mayor, Vadodara

Event 9

Health is Wealth

“Health is wealth” is so clichéd a quip that it has almost lost all significance. We all need a directive, sort of a path, that takes us to the healthy world! Ms Meeta Shah, COO, Retrofit provided the students with that guidance. Session commenced with a holistic definition of health- a perfect trinity of mind, body and soul. Most harbor a misconception that taking care of the body is equivalent to a good health. The mind and the soul are as important and much neglected facets of health

Event 10

Blood Donation

A massive blood donation drive was conducted as a part of AIMS National Management week 2016 in collaboration with Indu Blood Bank. 23 students donated blood while 63 students underwent thalassemia test.

Event 11

Organ Donation

Students and faculty of CKSVIM along with members of CII YI, walking along Kamatibaug towards Saffron complex, took up a neglected issue: The need for organ donation. Medical philanthropy often hinges on the usual blood-donation and financial aids. But the pressing need for viable organs to save lives can no longer remain muted.A brief run through by Mr Mohit Shah, Chairman of Sadak Suraksha Committee, was also given.

Event 12

Using social Media

In line with honorable Prime Minister’s Vision, CKSVIM gave impetus to Digitizing India. India ranks 3rd globally in the number of start ups. Their sustainability would be greatly influenced by effective use of social media. CKSVIM students Ms Renu Rajawat and Mr. Shreyansh Raval along with other students helped small and tiny enterprises in using Facebook Pages. A workshop for creating Facebook pages was also undertaken.

Event 13

Prezi : New Presentation Tool

Public speaking and presentation becomes an MBA student’s life rather than being a part of it. A very interesting session was conducted by Ms. Renu Rajawat regarding the use of Prezi as a presentation tool. She taught the students how to make a Prezi and use it effectively.

Event 14

Visit to Sumeru Jain Tirth

CKSVIM students are quite a diverse lot including four students from Afghanistan. We take pride in this diversity. On a journey towards experiencing different cultures, the students with faculty members visited Jain temple at Sumeru Tirth.

Event 15

Cross Cultural Awareness : Germany

The man who invented the first wheel was smart, but the one who invented the other three was a genius! Dr. Ramesh Shah, DHBW State University, Germany gave us an amazing snapshot of the land of automotive heaven: Deutschland A.K.A, Germany. Dr. Shah put side by side our cultural tendencies to an iceberg, the overt convergence constitutes a mere one-tenth of the whole saga; we are far more entwined than what meets the eye. Culture is water to a fish. We would all cease to exist without it! Mr. Shah extolled us to look at the Indo-German relations through the lenses of our culture.

Event 16

CSR: Visit to Panjarapole (Cattle House)

Students of CKSVIM visited Shri Dilip-Paresh Ashokchand Shah Sarvajaniik Panjrapole (Miyagam), managed by the chairman of Bhagwanshree Shantinath Charitable Trust, Surat; Mr. Kesariya Bhailalbhai Shah. At Panjrapole, 100 people take care of a total of 1000 cows, 270 goats, 3 horses and 2 camels. The cattle are provided with good quality food thrice a day, and on special occasions and festivals, they are also given sweets. Students donated Rs 3001/- towards animal welfare.

Event 17

Distribution of Clothes

Event 18

Rural School Visits

Students and faculty of CKSVIM visited 7 Rural schools located in Manjusar Village, Savli Taluka and Lakulesh located in Kayavarohan. CKSVIM students distributed stationery items and gave information about importance of cleanliness, education & Child Line Number 1098 to all students.

Event 19

Caring for the Environment

The problems of Global Warming are so rampant that naysayers seem to be ostrich-like; burying their necks in sand and proclaiming day to be night. Vadodara City, as the name suggests, is a city of Banyan trees (Vad trees in Gujarati). Unfortunately, planting more trees is the need of the hour. A tree-plantation campaign was organised at RTO Vadodara, CKSVIM campus (along with Divya Bhaskar) and at the Indoor Sports Complex, Sama by Dr. Rajesh Khajuria, Director, CKSVIM, faculty, the students of CKSVIM along with members of CII YI in presence of Mr. Tushar Arothe, Former International Kabbadi Player and Superintendent Customs & Central Excise and Mr. Mayank Mathur, CEO, Sports Promotion Foundation, VMC.

Event 20

Cleanliness Drive @ Railway Station

Dr Rajesh Khajuria, Director CKSVIM, Mr. Rajendra Rupnawar, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, Vadodara with faculty members, students and members of CII YI emphasized the importance of cleanliness at one of the busiest landmarks of our city: The Vadodara Railway Station. The “cleanliness sevaks” at the railway station were felicitated with nose masks and roses. The presence of the so many students, volunteers and the Director really helped boost their morale. Afterwards six teams were made, one team for each platform, and the message of keeping the platforms and the rail tracks clean was imparted. The students went one step ahead by joining hands with the cleanliness sevaks and cleaning the tracks themselves! RJ Roshan and RJ Kruti from our partners, Radio City 91.1 were also present. Total of 310 face masks were donated.

Event 21

‘Horn Not OK Please’ Walk-through

After a rather convivial assembly at the Kalaghoda circle Students and faculty members of CKSVIM along with members of CII YI rallied towards the railway station extolling the citizenry to curb unnecessary honking. On the fringes, a cleanliness drive was also on the agenda. De-addiction awareness was also taken up.

Event 22

Be Imaginative

In this event student participants prepared an advertisement/poster/skit/drama based on the social issues present in the country. Various social issues were presented by students like Beti Bachao - Beti Padhao, Animal Protection, Save Trees, Save Water, Anti-Alcohol, etc. Approximately 200 CKSVIM students benefitted.

Event 23

Sports

Event 24

Valedictory

Rome was not built in a day; but the fact remains that a small daily task, if it really be daily, will beat the rigors of a spasmodic Hercules. The efforts of everyone who actively participated in the NMW 2016 are truly laudable. The hard work metamorphosed into several smiles that we might never witness. Valedictory function was graced by Shri Bharat Dangar, Hon. Mayor of Vadodara City as the Chief Guest; Mr. Rajendra Rupnawar, Sr. Div. Security Commissioner, RPF, Vadodara as a Guest of Honor; Dr. Rajesh Khajuria, Director, CKSVIM; Mr. Hemant Vadalia, Vice President and Mr. Jagdish Gohil, Hon. Secretary, VCCI; Mr. Shashank Agrawal, CII Yi, Chair Western Region and Mr. Pranav Bhavsar, CII Yi Vadodara Chair; Mr. Pratapbhai Shah, Hon. Secretary, SMJV Vadodara and Mr. Divyang Shah, Local Committee Member of CKSVIM. Self-commitment: Everyone pledged to periodically review and continue the CSR activities.
