Reassessments: Students will be allowed to reassess once for each unit test after completing some form of remedial practice, which will be posted on the blog. The student will receive the higher of the two grades. Calculator: TI-36XPro There will be a class set of these calculators which will stay in the classroom. Having a TI-36xPro to use outside of the classroom would be highly beneficial. The cost is around $20 and can be purchased at most office supply stores. Notebook and supplies: All students are expected to bring a pencil and adequate paper to class each day. Students need a 3-ring binder (1” or larger) with 6 dividers – one for each unit. Class notes and assignments will be kept in the appropriate section to help students stay organized. More specific instructions will be given in class. Separate from the binder, students will need a composition book to use as their interactive math notebook. Attendance and make-up work: Attendance is an extremely important part of this class. Your success depends on you being in class every day. If you are absent it is your responsibility to get the notes and assignments that are missed. Power point notes and/or handouts should be available on my blog. If you are absent, you will follow the Cobb County School District policy regarding makeup assignments. Per School policy, if a student is absent on the day of a test, they will take the test on the first day of their return to class. Teacher Tutorials: If you need extra help or need to make-up a test, I will be available after school on Mondays until 4:15 and Friday Mornings from 7:00 until 8:00. Class rules: All Cobb County and McEachern HS rules and policies will be enforced in this class including those regarding dress code, use of electronic devices, food and drink in classrooms and offensive language. In addition, students are expected to be respectful of others, maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and to be engaged in the lessons at all times. Consequences for not meeting these expectations can include parent or student conference, change of seat assignment, lunch detention, removal from the classroom and/or an administrative referral. Communication: Information and resources about the class can be found on the class blog. Parents and students can find the class blog on the McEachern website (www.mceachernhigh.org). Also, parents and students are encouraged to sign up to receive text message reminders and announcements by texting @mrlalg to the number (415) 689-7650 or by visiting https://www.remind.com/join/mrlalg.
