Aliens & Outer Space!

Areas of learning As Geographers we will be experiencing observing and identifying weather conditions through real experiences. We will observe, find out about and identify features in the place we live and the natural world. To look at and identify pictures/photographs of other places/environments etc. Comment and ask questions about where they live and the natural world. To make graphical representations of different environments. As Scientists we will show awareness of the features of the natural world. Look closely at similarities, differences, patterns & change. Begin to show awareness of similarities and differences in other environmentsWe will also be developing language to describe properties of different materials by investigating objects and materials by using all of their senses as appropriate. As Expressive Artists and Designers we will experience and respond to different music through movement . Initiate and create movement in response to music. Use imagination in art, design, music and dance. To make representations/images /pictures. To begin to express ourselves. Respond in a variety of ways to what they see. Describe experiences using a widening range of materials. Begin to use representation as a means of communication. Explore colour, texture, shape, form and space in two and three dimensions As Children concerned with our Physical Development we will respond to rhythm, music and story by means of gesture and movement. Explore and practice different movements in relation to speed, direction, forwards, backwards etc. Manipulate materials and objects by picking up, releasing, arranging etc. To develop control when using equipment. To engage in activities requiring hand/eye co-ordination Manipulate materials to achieve planned effect. To move with confidence, imagination and safely. Recognise the importance of keeping healthy and those things which contribute to this. To handle tools, objects, construction and malleable materials safely and with increasing control.

As independent learners we will: We will continue to make sensible choices during our independent learning times. Taking charge of our learning journals remembering any work we are proud of can be put into them. Continue to use the strategies we have learnt to resolve our own conflicts calmly and sensibly. Using ICT we will: Continue to use a range of skills and work independently on the computer and iPad’s. Children will find out about and identify the uses of everyday technology and use information technology and programmable toys to support their learning .

In our spiritual and moral development we will: Learn to respect the environment and the need to care for it. To be aware of how to help to make environment become a more attractive place Show care and concern for others, for living things and for the environment. To be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. To talk about feelings, moods, emotions. To consider the consequences of their words and actions for themselves. Immersion Activities Wow: Developing our own Mission Control station base in our role play area.

Finale: Children will be planning a preparing their very own ‘Moon Party’ Children will be dressed as Aliens in underpants and invite parents to join us.
