Plush Alphabet Magnets Who can resist a little plush alphabet? I made some plush letters for my blog header, and liked them so much I knew I had to make a whole set—only with the addition of magnets. Supplies: 26 different 8x4 inch pieces of fabric Cotton batting White thread 26 small magnets (about ¼ - ½- inch wide) Card stock for letter template
Instructions; 1. Print the alphabet template on pages 3-6 on card stock. Cut out each letter to serve as a template for tracing. 2. Cut your cotton batting into 52 4-inch square pieces—you will need two 4-inch square pieces for each letter. 3. Assign a different fabric to each letter of the alphabet (I organized all my fabrics by color and shade in order to achieve a color-wheellike effect). Fold each piece of fabric in half, rights sides facing out. Using a washable fabric marker or pattern marking pencil, trace each letter in reverse onto the center of the right-side of the folded swatch of fabric (your letter should appear backward once traced).

4. Sandwich two pieces of cotton batting between the layers of folded fabric. Place one magnet just under the first layer of fabric, on top of the layers of batting, positioning the magnet so when you lay down the fabric the magnet is laying within the outline of the letter. 5. Sew around the edge of each traced letter (sew right on top of the lines of the letter you traced), taking care to ensure the magnet stays in place within the seams of the letter. If the letter has holes in the center—like a letter P or B—do not sew the inside edges of the letter. Once you have sewn the outside edges of the letter, using a small sharp scissors cut out the inside portions of the letter, then sew around the inside edge of the letter. Do not sew around this area until after you have cut out the inside.
6. Trim around the edge of the seams of the sewn letter, about 1/8 of an inch from the seams. 7. Optional: apply some sort of fabric fray-stop glue along the edges of each letter. 8. Go put your alphabet up on your refrigerator or something and admire its color and loveliness. Please note: due to the fact that this project contains magnets, you should under no circumstances give these magnets to a child under the age of 3. Magnets can be very harmful if swallowed.
