JESUS IS RISEN WEEK B-E1

JOHN 20: 1-9

On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.” So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead.

1. Understand It!

Tomb

A place where we buried dead people.

Disciple

A person who follows Jesus.

Burial Cloths

A piece of material used to wrap a dead body for burial.

Believe

To accept or trust in something as true.

2. Explore It! It was early in the morning when Mary of Magdala and other went to the tomb where Jesus was buried hoping to see Him. They were worried when they discovered that Jesus’ body was not there. Mary of Magdala rushed to Simon Peter and other disciples to tell them her concern. Quickly they ran to the tomb and surely only the cloth that covered His head and burial cloths were there. Simon Peter immediately believed that He had risen when he saws the cloths rolled up in a separate place because he loved and understood Him. In order to recognize the small sign Jesus left for His disciples, they must have loved Him very much. Can you imagine their love for Jesus?

3. Connect

It! We must love Jesus in order to recognize His message or signs to us. In order to love Jesus, we must learn to talk, listen, believe, and recognize Him through everyone and what we have.

4. Live It! [ JOYFULNESS ]

- a feeling of happiness

5. Remember It!

Every time you see a loved one such as your parents or your friends, say a little prayer thanking God for those who you love and love you. You can also simply smile and praise Jesus.

“For they did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead” (John 20:9)

6. Pray It! Dear Jesus, we know that our love for You is very small, but please teach us to recognize Your love through everything and everyone in our lives so we can appreciate and love You more every day. Amen.
