The Outline a. Download the outline of notes for the summer assignment. This outline is designed to only give you the topic discussed; therefore, the detail and analysis will need to be filled in by you. This document contains an outline for the video and the reading. I will be checking the completion of the outline during the first days of school. The Video a. This video was created by me to evaluate the first hundred years of American history. The Advanced Placement course refers to this section as Period 1: 1491 – 1607. Please watch and take notes on the video. Reading from the textbook. a. The pdf entitled, “Reading Assignment”, will have all of the required reading for the summer assignment. The outline that you downloaded before contains an outline for the reading. Please remember that you need to fill in the extra information since the outline is void of detail. Take notes a. Some of the homework in this course will require reading and taking notes on the important information. During this assignment, you must take notes on the each section. You may use any format of notes (MLA, concept mapping, standard outlining, bullet pointing, etc.). b. Consider reading an entire section before taking notes; this may help with identifying the important topics. c. At the beginning of the year, I will be giving you credit for the notes that you have taken. You will need them all year long in preparation for my tests and the Advanced Placement Test in May. The Quiz a. As stated above, there will be a quiz at the end of the assignment. Please complete everything before clicking on the link that will administer your quiz. The quiz will be an accumulation of all information in the summer assignment. The quiz will be scored instantly and be your first grade of the year. In class a. The material you learn over the summer will be very important to both the start of the class and most assessments taken during the course.
