District Athletic Director:_________________________________________________ Date:_________________________ A student who participates in any team at a school shall be assigned to that school for all sports and shall play for that school in any succeeding school years. If any student wishes to change schools during the FOLLOWING SCHOOL YEAR, they must make application within thirty-days following the completion of the current season explaining the reason for change. Change shall never be granted if the new school has an excess of student/athletes and the original school is lacking athletes. Any student who resides within the boundaries of Pueblo City Schools shall be assigned to participate at the school servicing their attendance area. The only exception would be for home school students who are enrolled in at least one class, in which case that enrollment has established their eligibility at that school. Students registering with the district for the first time shall be assigned to those schools that have the greatest need of participants to continue their program. If all schools have fundamentally equal participation, out-of-building students may request to play at a specific school (first come, first served). No school shall be assigned more than two athletes until all schools at that level (middle school/high school) have two out-of-district students/ athletes assigned to them. The method of assigning shall continue in increments of two, so that no school shall ever have two out-of-district student/athletes more than any other school. *See Rules & Regulations on back side of this form.

Procedures: No one may tryout for any sport team, workout in the weight room, participate in out-of-season practices, clinics or camps or in any other way participate at a Pueblo City Schools school until that individual is officially registered with the school district and assigned to a school for the purpose of participation. To register, the parents/guardian(s) of the individual student must complete all forms and turn them in to the district athletic office. Upon assignment of the individual to a school for participation, the individual may participate in out of season conditioning. To tryout for a team, the student must present his/her registration form to the building athletic director or assistant principal along with all other applicable paper work (physical form, parent permission, activity agreement, etc.), and pay any applicable participation fee prior to being allowed to participate in any sanctioned practices, scrimmages, and/or contests. Coaches may not speak with any prospective athlete until they have completed the registration process. Out-of-building athletes must be in compliance with all rules, regulations, eligibility requirements, etc. (and all other CHSAA rules and regulations) just like all athletes in that building. Home School Students: Any Student registered for home schooling in Pueblo City Schools may try out for any sport offered by Pueblo City Schools and shall be assigned to the Pueblo City Schools school that services that student’s attendance area. Home school students from District 70 may tryout for programs in Pueblo City Schools as a contiguous boundary student provided that District 70 does not offer the program. Home school students who are enrolled in at least one class at any Pueblo City Schools school have established their eligibility at that school and may try out for any sport at that school only. They will not need to register at the district office. Charter Schools: Students attending schools charted by Pueblo City Schools shall participate in the school of residency or with permission of the district athletic director and the building principals involved in the school nearest the campus of the charter school. If the students are enrolled in a school charted by a school district contiguous with Pueblo City Schools they shall be assigned in the same manner that other students are assigned who attend public school in district(s) contiguous with Pueblo City Schools. Private School Students: Students who attend a private school that does not offer a specific sport may try out for that sport at a Pueblo City Schools school provided that either the student lives in Pueblo City Schools or the Private school is within the Pueblo City Schools boundaries. If the private school student lives within the boundaries of Pueblo City Schools they shall participate at the school for that attendance area. Private School Students who live outside the district shall be assigned by the same criteria as students from contiguous districts. Contiguous Boundary Students: Students who attend school in a district contiguous to Pueblo City Schools (i.e. District 70) may try out for sports in Pueblo City Schools provided no school in that district offers the sport. In that event, they would have to participate in that district. These students shall be assigned to Pueblo City Schools programs that are most in need of numbers to maintain their program. If all Pueblo City Schools schools have an equal number of participants, students will be assigned based on preference - first come first served. Provided all schools have comparable number of students, no school shall be assigned more than two out-of-district students on their squad until all schools of the same level (middle school or high school) have two out-of-building students. This restriction applies only to out-of-district students, and applies only until all Pueblo City Schools programs have a comparable number of participants.
