GUIDELINES FOR THE 3-MEMBER COMMITTEE APPOINTED BY THE DIRECTOR FOR RECOMMENDING EQUIVALENCE TO A Ph.D. DEGREE The 3-Member Committee may recommend professional work as equivalent to Ph. D. (only for the candidates from profession/ Industry) based on following guidelines: 1. Professional works of repute which may have earned prestigious awards, won competitions and widely accepted as case studies of high class professional work. 2. Professional works of repute which may have been subsequently published in leading national and international professional journals. 3. Professional works of repute which show a very high degree of research input and involve application of latest technology, new concepts and concerns. 4. Publication of text books, manuals, reader volumes, reference materials, etc. based on professional experience, drawing heavily from projects undertaken by the candidate. 5. As envisaged by the UGC, recommendation of the 3-Member Committee would be valid only if recommended unanimously. 6. The 3-Member Committee shall be composed of Professors (at least two) and professionals representing the fields of Architecture, Planning and allied disciplines. At least two members of the Committee should themselves be holding Ph.D. 7. The 3-Member Committee, if it feels necessary, may seek opinion of 2 experts, external to the Committee, in relevant disciplines. Opinion of these external experts would only help the 3Member Committee in arriving at a decision and not necessarily form part of the decision. 8. The 3-Member Committee will record its reasoning for recommendation or otherwise, in all cases.
