Extra Class Assignment: Certified teachers agreeing to teach a class of academic instruction in excess of the standard five (5) period load shall be paid a stipend equal to 1/5 of the regular teaching contract. This stipend will be prorated based on actual number of days of the extra class assignment. NOTE: A doctoral degree in the individual's area of specialization or in the field of education, which has been granted by an accredited university shall result in an additional increment equal to 4% of the BA – Step 1 on the Teacher Salary Schedule. For the current school year the amount is $1,543. SPECIAL NOTE: The Governing Board may present an enrollment stipend to eligible staff members for extra work to sustain and/or increase within 10% of the District’s ADM. NUMBER OF CONTRACTED DAYS: • Returning Teachers: Five (5) more days than the number of student days. • New Teachers to TUHSD: Ten (10) more days than the number of student days.
