Engaging Apps Quick Start Guide

Getting Started and Working with Content in PollEverywhere Creating Your Account: 1. Go to https://www.polleverywhere.com/ 2. In the top right corner, click on Sign Up. 3. Select that you’re presenting. 4. Fill in your information and click 5. Go to your email and look for a verification email from PollEverywhere. Open the email and click on the verification link. Basic Account Limitations: The free account has several limitations. Upgraded accounts are available for a monthly or yearly fee. The university has a limited number of pro licenses that can be requested by contacting Kevin Abbott. Limitations: • Only 40 responses allowed per poll • No reports or grading based on participant response (no record) • No custom username • No moderation of responses before they appear onscreen • No team competitions • No censoring of responses • Cannot share polls among professors

Types of Questions: All types are available as a question set or as a survey. • Multiple Choice: standard multiple choice format that can also be used for true/false questions. • Word Cloud: participants submit their own answers and PollEverywhere creates a word cloud with the most popular answers. • Upvote/Downvote: participants submit their own answers and vote on their favorite responses. • Rank Order: participants vote on their favorite item from a list. PollEverywhere displays the rankings in a bar graph. • Clickable Image: participants submit their answer by clicking on an uploaded image (such as a map). • Open-ended: participants respond with any answer.

Creating New Questions: 1. In the top left corner of the main PollEverywhere page, click 2. In the popup box, select either the Question or Survey tab. 3. Click on the tab for which type of question you would like to ask. 4. For responses or questions with an image, click on the camera icon. • A browser window will open. In this window, find the picture on your computer’s hard drive. • When you have found the picture, click Open to add it to the response or question. 5. Select either Multiple Choice or True/False based on what your question type is. 6. For multiple response options, type in your answers into each separate blank. 7. To add additional questions, select the new question type from the bottom of the popup box:

Collecting Responses: 1. In My Polls tab on the left, check the boxes next to each question you would like a response to. 2. Click on the first question’s title to open the display slide. 3. To activate the question (start accepting responses), click 4. To maximize the question and display real-time updates of responses, click 5. Participants have two ways to respond: • Online at PollEv.com/your username • By texting your username to a given number, then texting each additional answer 6.
