The city and county attorney is the legal representative of the city and county and advises the City Council, boards and commissions, and departments of the City and County of Broomfield in matters relating to their official powers and duties and performs such other duties as Council prescribes by ordinance or resolution.

Broomfield welcomes candidates with a Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association accredited law school and at least ten years of increasingly responsible experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in Colorado, which has included at least five years in a supervisory capacity and at least seven years experience in the practice and application of municipal and/or county law. The Colorado municipal and/or county law experience would include experience in: working with City Council or County Commissioners, statute or ordinance drafting, investigating civil claims and preparing documentation for civil cases, and providing legal advice and legal representation on a broad range of municipal and county issues and services including land use, oil and gas regulations, development agreements, public financing and tax structures, Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs), intergovernmental agreements (IGAs), governmental immunity, elections, urban renewal, water, Colorado Open records Act, Open Meetings, etc. Experience advising an urban renewal authority is preferred. Must be an attorney-atlaw admitted to practice in Colorado and a member in good standing of the Bar of the State of Colorado.
